we have megathreads about health, climate, and cute animals, and we're ethical, we're aware, right?

yet i feel like the vegan population here is proportionally smaller than it it is in the united states

why?

Veganism is only necessary if you just buy any milk and egg product

absolutism is unappealing to the board's population

if you care about the wellfare of animals in this sense veganism isn't a satisfying conclusion

if you care about the environment veganism is hardly the only answer or the endgame

most people here are probably not all that healthy, but I'm biased since I board with the sadsacks the drunks

Also leather boots and shit will last 20+ years and it feels more responsible buying that than some shitty pair that's just going to wind up in a landfill every 6 months

been meat free for 3 weeks now but there's no way in hell I could go vegan. Being vegetarian is hard enough when you despise cooking and prefer to purchase most of your meals pre-made. I make myself dinner for work three nights a week but i've been eating the same meal for like five months and it gets pretty boring. One of the nice things about buying vegetarian meals at restaurants is they are usually considerably cheaper, though.

maybe it shows my lack of awareness of the hpn zeitgeist that i would think the number would be higher? i thought we all were pretty absolutely for human rights?

i care very much about the welfare of animals, but veganism probably is my endgame with that. because of who i am and what i do in my community, i can be a vocal vegan (and i am) and have more efficacy in fomenting actual change than i could be if i were doing actual activism. i mean maybe, maybe not but i reach hundreds of people where i'm at now

sure, veganism isn't the only answer/endgame to the environment issue, but considering animal agriculture's massive ecological footprint, why are we content merely to turn off a light every now and then or ride our bike when the weather's good? [not claiming my perfection here--i still drive to work when i probably could walk]

health is health. we have big threads about working out and running. i dunno.

go vegan

yeah i'm gonna try it this year but it should be pretty easy. I'll still be able to eat everything else my mom makes aside from the turkey, which is one of the least essential parts of christmas dinner anyway. Give me a plate full of oven baked stuffing, roasted carrots and mashed potatoes and i'm good.

Wait, can I eat gravy? probably not, right.
