it's all over the map

this is one of the most polarizing SW movies ever

everyone is loving it and hating it for all these overlapping venn diagrams of reasons, like each specific element some people totally love and others totally hate

pop culture zeitgeist going for a hell of a spin

Some of the humor didn't hit for people - I definitely think some of the beginning portion of the film has some jokes where I could see where, tonally, it could have seemed un-Star Wars-ian. Definitely some people's overall opinion is 'it just didn't feel like Star Wars to me' or 'it felt too much like a Marvel movie'

There is some people saying that there is some heavy handed political messaging in some of it.

Some logic holes here and there bother some people more than others (or seem more like plot holes to some more than others)

There's one particular subplot that seems to be dislike by a lot of people, even some who like the movie overall a lot.

A few of the major character's arcs seem off for some people. There's a few surprises that people think were corny or weird. Certain characters have major moments in the plot where people don't love either the specific character choice or certain shots.

(I think all of this is vague enough, in fact, I'd venture to say some of it is vague to the point that I don't know if it's terrible understandable out of context but if any of it strikes people as spoiler-y, I'll put it under tags)

I loved it. slow start, but from the halfway point on, i'd say it's pretty much perfect.

i'm rewatching tfa before i see this later. i noticed a CONTINUITY ERROR that i cannot overlook.

at 1:35:17 rey is holding her blaster in her LEFT hand. see fig. 1 below.

Image

then at 1:38 she is clearly holding her blaster in her RIGHT hand. see fig. 2.

Image

I mean...are we to believe rey is some kind of moment to moment AMBIDEXTROUS jedi?! boy i really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

does this one have a-wings in it? maybe a tie interceptor? resistance should switch it up imo.

dunno what the service life of the average starfighter is supposed to be in this universe but 40+ years has to be pushing it for any airframe, even an adaptable multi-role design like the x-wing.

maybe the new republic got caught up in a multi-trillion credit boondoggle ala the F-35 and had to fall back on retrofits of their existing fleet.

They have a wings but I think the only TIEs are still the OG fighter model

No spoilers but you do see an interceptor on a computer
