Joss Whedon has been snagged to write and direct that Avengers movie... just a thread.

no, but they gave unproven director Favreau quite a bit of rope and seem to be hiring auteur types for the other films, so who knows...

My major concern with The Avengers was Zak Penn doing the script so I'm glad they chose a director who can tighten the story/dialogue. Kind of a gamble going with love/hate geek icon who hasn't proved himself as a blockbuster director but the same was said about Favreau (minus icon). They didn't give the job to Joe Johnston though so all is well.

Kranky, who would you hire if you were in charge of the film? Director, writer, and cast.

Robert Downey, Jr. in a Joss Whedon movie is something to look forward to.

ed norton sounds as if he's warmed back up as well... but yeah, whedon's words coming from downey's mouth seems a nice marriage.

Is the rumored synopsis still detaining an out-of-control Hulk or are we gonna get some Skrulls action? edit: I'm still having a really hard time picturing how they are going to pull this off without it being almost 3 hours.

Previous Whedon contributions to Marvel cinema were pretty rough, admittedly.

yeah, and if i remember right he also had little love for the Avengers, even shooting down the rumor he was on a shortlist after the release of Iron Man by stating his lack of interest... probably because he didnt think there was a real chance in hell.

i don't think wanda and pietro are up for grabs marvel is going to be looking to cut every corner imaginable when it comes to casting the new faces given the probable cost of paying for RDJ, hemsworth, evans, and possibly norton get ready for TV actors as hawkeye and the pyms in another world norton coulda been a pitch-perfect pym actually
