A murder has occurred on Wolf Island just as a ferry full of travel writers arrives in the harbor. The residents of the island want to keep the journalists off the island in order to keep the murder out of the news and to maintain their quiet way of life. A Pyscho Killer wanders the Island leaving death and destruction in their wake as a deputy stalks the canals and dirt paths in search of clues.Rules- No screenshots, no sharing of moderator communication, no playing against win condition, no chat transcripts, no anonymous emails.

Win ConditionsJournalists: eliminate both Fishermen and achieve parity with other Islanders.
Islanders: eliminate the Journalists.
Psycho Killer: the psycho killer must be the the last player alive to win.
Deputy: find the psycho killer. Counts toward village parity.
Journalist RolesEditor in Chief (Seer): does not know the other journalists. Can scan one lodging per night and will be given a readout on number of journalists and fishermen (NOT murderer). Cannot be bribed by the journalists on the first five nights. Upon death all scans will pass to the living journalists.
General Counsel: Provides legal representation to the journalists. 2x per game can protect a journalist from being expelled from the island. Cannot protect same journalist more than once. Knows the identity of the SEO Specialist and the staff writer.
SEO Specialist: Distorts scans of the Captain/First Mate 3 times per game. When deployed, the SEO Specialist has the opportunity to identify one lodging. This lodging will show zero journalists if scanned. Knows identity of GC and staff writer.
Staff Writer (Wolf): Knows identity of the General Counsel and the SEO Specialist. The staff writer bribes one islander per night. Once they are bribed, the islanders no longer show up at town halls and go on about their days (replaces night kill). If the town votes to kick the staff writer off the island, the bribery powers will fall on the SEO specialist, the General Counsel, and finally the Editor in Chief.
Intern (Minion): Knows the identity of the General Counsel, SEO Specialist, and Staff Writer. Cannot initiate communication or reveal their identity to the journalists. Does not scan as a journalist but counts towards journalist parity.
Islander RolesCaptain (Seer): Knows the identity of the First Mate. Can scan one lodging per night and will be given a readout on the number of journalists present. If the murderer is present in the lodging the Captain will know. Upon death all scan results will be passed to the first mate.
First Mate: Knows the identity of the Captain. If the Captain is killed, can scan one lodging per night and will be given a readout on the number of journalists present. Will not know if the murderer is present. Upon death all scan results will pass to the Artisans.
Local Legend (Bodyguard): This local surf legend is past his prime but is fiercely protective of his friends on the island. Chooses one person per night to be protected from the actions of the journalists or murderer. killed, arrested, or lynched (his protection lasts one full night cycle as well as the following day cycle). The local legend can sustain two hits before dying. Can protect the same person twice in a row. Can protect himself.
Grom (Jr. Bodyguard): May protect 2x for the entire of the game.
Local Artisans: the artisans know each other’s identity upon starting the game.
Bartender: the bartender gets islanders and journalists alike shit-hammered. Every night the bartender will identify a person to overserve. That person’s night action will be blocked.
Barista: this islander stumbled upon the island a few years ago. They love nothing more than to serve everyone the meet a bowl of house baked granola with fresh local fruit and a steaming mug of coffee. 3x per game the barista can identify another player. If the barista identifies a player with a night action, said player will get to use their night action 2x that night.
Islanders: local yokels. They want the journalists off the island and to go on with their lives in peace, thank you very much.
Neutral RolesPsycho Killer: The Psycho Killer recently snapped when a wave snapped his family heirloom longboard in half. He or she is given the ability to kill on every even-numbered night but may unlock additional kills through interaction with the lore in roleplay posts. There are a number of pre-determined trigger words that will result in additional night kills being granted to the psycho killer. The psycho killer can not be bribed by journalists.
Deputy: the town deputy has never seen a murder on the island. They will follow the lore and roleplay to determine the identity of the psycho killer. The deputy is given two chances to name the identity of the psycho killer to the moderator. This can be done at any time and will result in the immediate jailing of the psycho killer (i.e. removal from the game). The deputy is able to lock up one person from the game per night. Can lock themself up 1x per game. This will negate their night action.
MechanicsDay Actions

Send away |
RescindVoting for Mayor: a majority vote for Mayor gives a player 2 votes. The Mayoral role is a lifetime appointment. If a Mayor dies, additional Mayors can be appointed.

Rescind MayorLodging: lodging choices are made each day and cannot be changed until the next day. Every night people must name one of three lodgings on the island. Scans will be given based on this information. Lodging choices are (1) the Anchor Inn, (2) the Seafoam Motel, and (3) the Woolf Campgrounds.
LodgingItems Surfboard: Protects holder from being bribed or killed. Cannot be discussed publicly or privately, and is passed anonymously. Must be passed each day.
Beach Cruiser: the Beach Cruiser can be used to travel between lodgings at night. If you have the beach cruiser you will not show on any night scan because you will be cruising around the island on two wheels of pure style. Is randomly assigned on each night.
Fish tacos: these things are delicious. You can talk about these and let people know they rule but you will be so preoccupied with how delicious they are you will not talk at all during the day phase discussions in the town hall on what to do with those pesky travel writers. Must be passed each day. TO CLARIFY: if you have been passed the fish tacos, you cannot communicate with anyone either through the thread or on slack for the day phase and you will pass it on the next night. There is a narrow exception for players that were placed in private slack channels to start the game, i.e. wolf chat and mason chat. Communication is permitted in these instances.
Lore Items: in addition the named items, the lore will contain a number of additional items. What the items do is not clear. Some can be used in multiple ways. If you are the first person to successfully use the item in the lore in the correct way the item will be used. Note that the items will not always be named but may be implied by the presence of other items. Use your imaginations and double down on the island roleplay and good things might just come your way.
