part of the fun of the early part of this game and the entirety of the last game was watching people's thought processes. Can you imagine the previous game if all of Feral's endgame mental workouts were done via PM? I suppose it's a better strategy - though part of me thinks that it isn't. There's no behavior to analyze and pick apart if the thread is just votes, and once the numbers are low enough it just becomes a guessing game if no one is discussing theories in the thread. How people react to accusations is such a huge part of the game. I don't know. I don't really care at this point who wins - the whole game is sort of "fruit from the poison tree" at this point because there's no way to right the ship after the bingo / pierrot thing.

yeah i'm really interested to talk about this after the game

I thought I clicked on the MGS thread, and this post was blowing my mind.

I really, really hate the role of Aura Seer. It's just too powerful of a role, and if alive and undetected, makes the formation of something like the lame-ass Cabal entirely too likely.
I think we could keep most of the existing roles and still have a great game, as long as we chucked that one.

You are definitely overestimating the role the Aura Seer played w/r/t the Cabal this game.

If you're still playing, get outta here:

The Aura Seer definitely did work confirming certain suspicions of the Cabal, but there were other tells beforehand.Toggle Spoiler

I'm sure I am, but I guess it just seems to me that when most of the village has one type of special role or another (and most of them are good-aligned) it becomes pretty easy for the Aura Seer to both use their power to get consistent results (unlike normal Seers or Sorcerers) and then use that information to start contacting those good-aligned characters and forming a Cabal. Perhaps the Aura Seer didn't really do that this game, but it seems like something that should and could have been easily done.

The ability of the Aura Seer to identify both good and evil aligned special roles in a game where over 2/3rds of those players have special roles greatly inflates their power.

man remember when the werewolf thread was doing like 30 pages an hour? Now it's like 30 posts / week

I'll be curious to see how Luke feels about all this when it's over. I think him tapping an apprentice probably answers that.

sorry, Luke.
THIS IS TOTALLY UNEXCEPTABLE.

I have to say the strategies some people used from day 1 in this game set out a very negative, labored tone for the following days. it's best to have fun and roleplay for a few day/night cycles and then start the bitter weeding out process. reading this one has been a chore. can't believe roleplay was discouraged from the get-go.

Looking forward to the post-game debrief at this point. I'm curious where things went wrong, even though I get the general idea.

Seems like it was the backchanneling what killed it. Near as I can tell it got bitter and turned a lot of people off mid-game, all you really see is a lot of resigned head-shaking in the main thread though. Maybe I'm wrong. I flamed out fast so I didn't see any of this firsthand.

i agree but i also think that there's a pretty significant relationship between the last game being rp heavy and a total blowout for the wolves

like, i think a lot of this results from these games being way, way too big

i think it was partly backchanneling but also people having different ideas as to what the backchanneling was intended for. like iambic's "mean girls" comment was (and is) totally bizarre to me, as if it were about cliquish exclusion. whereas without good backchanneling the village doesn't have a chance in games this size and w/o good-aligned killing roles. it's rough

i also don't think the game really "died," i think it just retreated to private arenas and left some players behind. which is still undesirable ofc. never seen the public chatter fall of so hard tho :B
