Official HPN WW Thread ongoing forever edition

There are worse ways to spend the time, but not many.

So it looks like there's a pretty big appetite for more werewolf games, and an increasing number of people interested in running them as well as playing them, so I figured it would be good to have 1 thread for planning/scheduling to prevent there from being 3 games running simultaneously or something. Here are the potential games I know about:

- chill WW (bingo)
- The Faculty (Alice)
- Shinra vs. AVALANCHE (pierrot/snatch)
- MOTHER (iambic)
- Monday Night Wars (lordofdiapers)
- something (fox)
- something (sleigh)
- Cold War (adamtrask)

Past/Current games
WW #1 (Luke || Village won) [7/14/15 - 7/21/15]
WW #2 (Luke || Wolves won) [8/20/15 - 9/1/15]
WW #3 (Luke || Village won) [9/9/15 - 9/26/15]
WW #4: Samhain (Alice || Village & Tanner won) [9/27/15 - 10/18/15]
WW #5: Rajada (sleigh || Village, Sadboy, & Grudgeholder won) [10/25/15 - 11/4/15]
WW #6: All-Stars: Rocks vs. Turtles (Luke || Turtles won) [11/4/15 - 11/11/15]
WW #7: Harry Potter (Catullus || Team Good won) [11/15/15 - 11/28/15]
WW #8: Speed WW I (Luke/good pups || Wolves won) [11/30/15 - 12/1/15]
WW #9: Oracle of Thanatos (werd/VH Balanced || Greeks won) [12/2/15 - 12/10/15]
WW #10: Transylvania (sevenarts/Alice || Vampires & Creature/Lost Love won) [1/2/16 - 1/13/16]
WW #11: Speed Space Werewolf (internetstrange || Crewmembers won) [1/15/16 - 1/17/16]
WW #12: Speed WW III: Mason Island (palmer eldritch || Wolves won) [1/25/16 - 1/26/16 ]
WW #13: Speed WW IV: Papa John's (The Unblinking Eye || Employees won) [2/2/16 - 2/6/16]
WW #14: Speed WW V: Point Break (laserblast || Agents won) [2/12/16 - 2/14/16]
WW #15: Return to Rajada (stakeout/surly || called early, Village won) [2/18/16 - 2/22/16]
WW #15.5: Rajada Returns: The Rebirth (stakeout/surly || ongoing) [2/22/16 - ]

the one vh and I are building is starting to come together nicely

it'll take a bit more work before it's ready but I think we're looking for about 30-35 players size

I guess this is a good place to ask someone for a template of the spreadsheets used to run these

My sheet for #4 was very thorough. If you want access to it so you can check it out cell contents in greater detail just PM me your e-mail address. I basically just used the SUM function tho and fox drafted up lookup which was v helpful.

*bump* in case anyone wants to take filibuster discussion/complaints to this thread and talk about some of the fun stuff that happened in All-Stars in that thread instead.

FWIW I don't particularly like the filibuster mechanic but there are certainly ways it can be tweaked to be more fair.

The basic list is

+7 Seer
+4 Apprentice, Witch, Magician
+3 Hunter, Diseased, Martyr, Tough Guy, Aura Seer, Priest, Bodyguard, PI, Prince
+2 Troublemaker, Ghost, Mayor, Mason, Idiot
+1 Villager, Spellcaster, Tanner, Cult Leader,Old Hag
0 Hoodlum, Old Man
-1 Lycan
-2 Doppelganger, Pacifist
-3 Cupid, Drunk, Cursed, Sorcerer
-5 Lone Wolf
-6 Werewolf, Minion
-7 Vampire
-8 Wolf Cub

You want to get it at 0 or as close to 0 as you can. If you've got completely new ideas, try to extrapolate off of these numbers.

Don't want to throw shade on you Luke, I think maybe I've just been a crank all week.

Still super appreciate you running these things.

That was was very very fun to watch towards the end that's for sure.

I think after the Harry Potter game we should probably have a bit of a break for a while so people can recharge. We've been doing these on a pretty insane schedule and it would be nice to not drive it into the ground until it's not fun anymore. I have a ton of ideas for my game but will wait until at least early December, maybe even into the new year, before putting it out there. I'll need a lot of people for it so I don't want burnout to have set in for most people. Internetstrange has a shorter/smaller game that can probably fit in whenever he wants to do it though.

Uni, PM me your email address, I can send you some of the resources I've found while designing one of these.

That's basically the balance list I've been working off of, too. Only +3 for Aura Seer, at least the way it's been used in these games, is crazy though. That's like +9 for team good, way more powerful than even a regular seer.

There is definitely a break. There will be at least a week for starting pre game stuff before the official first day which should allow people to interact in character and establish voices (and plan/scheme) before game start. Hopefully that will ease people in and take off pressure.

You are. Right now if you want to make your character you can start but we haven't announced game start and I'm open to when it should be. At the moment I'm thinking of assigning roles Friday, week of pregame and start next Friday.

Snatch wrote:Villagers/Wolves is an awesome, pure game. It just requires a hyper-active Village, which is not a thing any of the past games have required.

yeah, I was worried when that game was announced that everyone would treat it like the other, more complicated games, when it required very aggressive public politicking, dragging people out to vote, and then doing detective work with the voting record.

I don't think PMs have no utility in that kind of game (I liked the way grease shamed diapers's presence/non-presence with PMs), but for the most part there's nothing to be secretive or reticent about. with no specials or ironclad cabals to protect, secrecy and reticence just make things harder for the village.

I think backchannelling in a pure game is only good for catching people out or testing them in a voting bloc. everything else should be in the thread.
