Virgin Werewolf (#16): WOLVES WIN

There are worse ways to spend the time, but not many.

Postby Luke » Mon Mar 07, 2016 11:28 am

The theme is going to be the bog-standard medieval village. Werewolves are murdering members of the village at night, and the villagers want to lynch these pesky fuckers.

Roles:
Seer: This villager can detect wolf blood, they will ask the moderator once per night the identity of another player, and they will receive wolf blood/no wolf blood. Keep in mind that this will not find the minion, so it is still a good idea to exercise caution.

Hunter: Upon death, this player may fire their… I dunno, crossbow at another player, killing them instantly. This player may also shoot in the air, sparing everyone.

Bodyguard: This is an important one to read, as my interpretation of the Bodyguard is different from other interpretations. The Bodyguard selects another player to protect from wolf attacks in the night. The Bodyguard may not select the same player two nights in a row. If the kill is blocked, the Bodyguard and the Werewolves will know that the Bodyguard blocked the kill. For all other players, it appears publicly a No Kill night by the wolves. Upon a successful block, the Bodyguard must rest a night, but they do not die, nor do they kill a wolf.

Minion: This is a Villager that shares the win condition for the wolves. They know the identity of the wolves, but are forbidden from revealing themselves to them.

5 Villagers, 2 Werewolves in addition to one each of the roles listed above.

Other Stuff:
You can say mason. Consider this one a freebie, guys. I'm a big proponent of murdering players that say it.

I don't really care about pms. You can share them. You can share mod communication. I'll do the same thing as always and mention that they're trivially faked. Trust No One.

I am also agnostic about your choice of backchanneling. I will accept pms/dms via slack or the board pms from each of the night actions, the werewolves only have to submit one kill order, I don't need to be cc'ed on the process.

Lynch/Rescind Votes:

During day phases, all living players can vote for the player they want to die. A plurality wins the vote, if the largest plurality is No Kill/Abstain, there will be no kill that day. I will definitely accidentally call it a majority at some point in the game, but trust me, it's a plurality.

Lynch vote:
Grammatron
Code: Select all
Grammatron

Rescind vote:
Grammatron
Code: Select all
Grammatron

That wasn't a typical/standard game (in a good way!) Phillipe, and it was your only one so far. You're probably fine.

Up to Luke, of course, but I think the idea is to just keep the regulars out and let other folks (who may have been hesitant before) try it out.

Bumping for visibility, if you're curious at all, give it a shot. Great way to meet people/get to know other boarders.

The former commonly happens (and may be advantageous for you do) but is optional. The latter is all that's required. Makes for a better thread when the game is mostly played here instead of privately/in slack, anyway.

The goofy RP stuff we tend to do is also optional :) that's just a running joke from the first game that has become HPN WW tradition and part of the fun.

i'm pretty sure there's more interest than this. this is a great opportunity to play without more experienced players breathing down your neck. if you signed up once and were never able to follow what was going on, this will catch you up, too.

i played a variation of this in real life with cards and a phone app a few weeks ago. i think it was called One Night. it was fun and i had a pretty good idea what was going on just from reading the descriptions of the different roles in some other WW thread.

This is the same Werewolf game that is alternately called Mafia (easily looked up on wikipedia). Yes, there is a home/party version you play in person. The online game Town Of Salem is sorta similar but it has a lot of goofy roles you're not going to see this time around that make it play out very differently.
