comedy podcast thread

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

You might want to give it a shot. I don't think you need to know a ton about sports (though it helps) but that may not be true. Their chemistry is obviously amazing and they are just so damn quick. Check out one of the patton episodes. Most of their guests don't know anything about sports anyway.

Well too bad because you can also stream it:

How Did This Get Made has been a huge disappointment, it's such a good concept and group of people, but it's boring as hell with almost embarrassing production value at times

Yeah, that was the best one yet. The comedy pairing of Loud Garrulous Fat Man + Cynical Canadian + Young Kid Who is More Successful Than, yet Deferential To the Others was a match made in heaven. + Stoner Host too, I guess.

I'll second nefarious's endorsement of Sklarbro Country. While it's sports-centric, they focus on the weird, stupid, crazy shit going on, whether it's "big national names" or just smaller stories like little league coaches dueling or whatever. They play off of each other amazingly (guess it helps they're twins) and their guests are almost exclusively well-respected comedians. Chris Cox does some great impressions for them in their last "interview" segment too (Sam Elliott, Jerry Jones, Tiger Woods).

i think CDR is just too fucking inconsistent for me to listen regularly anymore. that paul giamatti bit last week turned me off almost immediately.

i felt sota the opposite. the giamatti thing absolutely kills me in small doeses, but they do have habit of beating shit to death.

i mena, its the nature of fre form improv, but i cant help but feel they could structure it a little more and keep the bits shorter.

structure and brevity would do a lot for me, yeah. most of my favorite bits (bob ducca, mike detective, ibrain) are at least partly pre-written, and a lot of my favorite improv on the show doesn't involve a character (episode with tig and nealon in particular). i'm ok with nick kroll doing his characters for a whole episode, though it depends on the straight men he has to work with.

Last night I was laughing about the CDR Halloween episode and when they were talking about ghost law/court, one of the ghouls saying that "The only Ghost Rule is that ghosts rule."

and i guess this was further upthread, but Aukerman consistently cracks me up. i esp. love his Weirder Scott songs in the earlier CDRs. he has a great bad sense of humor.
