The Baseball (and other sports) Card Thread

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

A thread to discuss baseball (and other sports) cards and share your recent finds (and potentially broker trades!).

Amblin, have you hit up the Topps Lineage set yet? I find them kinda ugly and I was pretty disappointed when this:

was not the design they went with for the Lincecum card. Couple that with the more premium price per pack and I think I'll be abstaining.

actually i just pulled the lincecum pop-up card from a blaster of lineage.

thats the only lineage i have got so far, mostly still doing A&G. also when the lockout ended i got hyped on football and grabbed a bunch of NFL stuff. will probably grab some more soon because it was fun to break, doubt i will build that set.

here's a start for the few boarders who will come in here and ask how much their cards that are in their parent's house are worth: http://freedomcardboard.com/blog/2011/07/13/a-familiar-refrain/

i made big piles of common cards from the teams with the most obsessive fans with the plan of putting them on ebay, but obviously i never did that because who has time to do something like that. But it was really fun going through 15 years of common cards.

i haven't bought a pack of cards in over 15 years.

during the early 90's, my collecting zeal shifted to starting lineups and, eventually, to mcfarlane figures.

having learned my lesson with baseball cards about "value," i only buy players from my favorite teams (no "investing") and, with the exception of two tom seaver starting lineups, everything else has been removed from its packaging.

i keep everything in a glass case i bought from ikea that's so overstuffed that i need to buy another one.

at some point i'll take up buying cards again, but when i do it'll just be with the intent of buying a team set for each of my teams for each year of their existence.
this cunted circus never ends.

If this becomes a general sports card thread I can get behind that but I have zero baseball cards. Have a few recent football & UFC cards but my main collecting is in wrestling. I'm also a modern collector in that I rarely, if ever, bother with base sets unless it's wrestling or I'm opening hobby boxes. It's all about the numbered parallels, autographs & event used cards for me.

Have no problem with opening this up to other sports. Amblin himself seems to have gotten into the Topps NFL cards already.

You got an auto out of retail? You beat the odds there. I think I opened 3 hobby boxes of it and got burned on it. Each hobby box has two autos in it but the only ones I got of somewhat value I got were Randy Couture & Josh Kosheck. The rest were scrubs like Patrick Cote & Chris Tucsherer. :(

Amblin what are the better things you've pulled this year?

So far I've gotten:

Topps Heritage 2011 David Wright "Cin. Reds" error
Topps 60 Nolan Ryan relic (jersey)
Topps 60 dual relic Dustin Pedroia/Robinson Cano

awesome. so the value either went up $15 or went down $15 in the last 15 years.

does anyone want to buy my collection for $100? i have over 1000 cards i'm pretty sure and several inserts that used to be valued in the $20 range.

Actually, any of you baseball collectors open any 201 Allen & Ginter? The non-baseball autograph line up for that is really tempting me to try a box or two. There's even "DNA Relic" cards in there of like George Washington & Edgar Allan Poes hair.
