The Baseball (and other sports) Card Thread

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

There's even some graded boxes out there. Think I saw a sealed graded Star Wars wax pack box on ebay once going for a crazy amount.

In the spirit of the new thread I got two UFC 2010 retail packs, mostly because I was shocked to even see them in a shop on Ireland today. I actually have the complete base and insert set for it already. Odds of hits for retail are just silly so it was just base and two inserts. It's unlikely but if anyone wants these I'll mail them to you for free.

i watched some "pull" videos because of this thread, ending with one in which the dude gets a charles darwin card (what.) then says "i might just burn this right in front of the camera cuz... evolution is gay"

This is either from an Allen & Ginter or Gypsy Queen set, which replicate the tobacco cards from that era which also pictured non-sports personalities.

Numbered 19/62 is a "eBay 1/1". You could probably get a few extra $ out of it for the numbering alone. I need to get some boxes of something, haven't opened anything in ages..

OK, I seriously had no idea this Topps Diamond Giveaway thing was actually giving away real vintage Topps cards. I thought it was just more Toppstown bullshit with "virtual" cards.

last year it was "million card giveaway" and i had mine sent but in the end if you have mostly commons its not worth the shipping. even the 50s or 60s or 70s stuff, its not in horrible shape but some had creases or corner issues etc. they did come in toploaders.

this year they have the die cuts mixed in plus the ones with the diamonds in them. i have three of the die cuts that i just traded some other ones i had along with some old commons that sweetened the deal. on the digs/rings i won that 79 sealed pack, a 10$ off coupon, some phone case then i just got enough for the factory set.

I made far more $$ selling whatver Million Card Giveaway codes I pulled than I could ever have gotten in card worth from that promotion.

How much is shipping? I got nothing special as far as it goes, but I got a few 50s and early 60s one that are pretty cool looking I'd like to have physically. Apparently people really want my 1989 Ozzie Smith, too.

Amblin, how long did it take for you to get your $10 off code?

So Topps just sent me this bad boy because I guess they couldn't get around to putting together the Robinson Cano/Dustin Pedroia Topps 60 Dual Relic.

(mine's 09/36)

It's pretty cool though I kinda wish I had the Cano/Pedroia card since I don't really care about Triple Threads and it's from last year.

I guess I should mention I picked up a retail pack of Series 1 and a retail jumbo pack of Heritage just for the hell of it today. Didn't get much aside from some base cards I was missing and:

Topps 60 Ryan Zimmerman
60 Years of Topps Brooks/Frank Robinson (1968)
Toppstown Hanley Ramirez

Heritage SP Huston Street (#435)
Heritage New Age Performers Miguel Cabrera

edit: Also expecting from UPS today my Heritage Hobby Box that I'm splitting with a buddy this weekend along with three complimentary retail packs of 2010 Upper Deck that I'll be keeping for myself. Big card day for myself I guess.

Don't post or lurk on any board. The chumminess and positivity of older guys who post on an Internet forum dedicated to a hobby just kinda clashes with my cynical, black heart. Also, I just kinda started the hobby and don't really want to get too into it at this point.
