Pitchfork tranches

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

Postby housesitter » Tue Feb 28, 2012 3:31 pm

Not an Actual Tranche because this record probably deserves even less, but man I always cringe every time the "The-last-time-we-heard-from-Ontario-blisscore-pioneers" blog post guy writes a full review

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/16342-trst/

he sounds like the kind of personality-heavy singer indie culture's been hesitant to embrace over the last few years.

This stuff sounds malevolent, but mighty sexy, as Alfons' pinched whine of a voice takes on both characteristics with ease.

The missing letter in the album title is "U", and it's fitting; TRST often sounds like Alfons and Postepski are doing this more for themselves than anyone else,

Already a darling of tastemakers Pitchfork, VICE and Stereogum, Trust 's much-anticipated debut album TRST is available today, February 28.

The Toronto-based duo - consisting of Robert Alfons and Maya Postepski - has quickly garnered international attention for its uniquely murky brand of synth pop, hailed by The Fader as "something beautifully seedy."

did we discuss this?

mostly worthless, but a few readers raised some valid criticisms. the brent D update was completely unexpected and interesting since i'm not familiar with leyner at all.

I'm glad they addressed the no comments policy. And I agree with them. Honestly, they could have just put "well, you people are terrible monsters, so no comments" and I'd be fine

I'm definitely in the minority, but I love comments almost as much as content. they're hilarious. youtube comments are one of the best things about the internet.

the whole thing about comments really boils down to the 2nd part of their answer though. the way social media's evolved, it's outdated to have it hosted on your site. people don't want to talk about pfm reviews with strangers, they want to rant with their friends on FB.

which is kind of sad when you think about our origins

Grizzly Bear is one of the defining bands of our generation :?
One flyer asked God to “please remove from upon us the plague of the
artists, so that we shall not drown in evil waters, and so that they
shall not come to our residence to ruin it.’’

I quite liked the comments section that were on Stylus. I remember Dave Queen's write-up of a Muse album, and reading the comments in response to his review was the BEST.

Five years after his last album I'll Sleep When You're Dead was released, underground rap linchpin El-P will put out his new LP, Cancer for Cure, May 22 via new label home Fat Possum. The record will feature appearances from recent collaborator Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Interpol's Paul Banks, Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, and others. "The Full Retard", which is ostensibly a Tropic Thunder reference, is the first single from the album. Clearly, a near half-decade hasn't slowed El-P's roll at all, as the swarming, cyber-jittery boom-bap production style he bomb-dropped circa Fantastic Damage is present and accounted for here. As is El-P's rapid-fire flow, too, cramming syllable after syllable into bursts of breath that seem humanly impossible. Good to have him back.

anyone else having problems with all this (ostensible) javascript image loading/page intermission swirly thing?

half the pictures never show up for me, the browser often gets slowed to shit by the cover changing things, and I really don't understand the point of darkening the screen between pages

A girl repeatedly screamed, "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!?" during Liturgy's set.
She seemed on the verge of panic,
literally out of her (Honda) Element.
