also everyone's remark about the design of the "future" is spot on. fuck Logan's Run looks more believable.

I don't think this is a "bad" movie - Jennifer Lawrence is pretty good basically doing the YA version of her character from Winter's Bone, and this is what this movie really has going for it. She's a great lead.

Woody is funny, the dude from American Beauty is awful. the other kid actors are fine, they don't have much time and basically have to hit a note. my gurl was all weepy when SPOILER the little girl dies in heroine's arms.

There are two main problems for me watching this:

•I'm not in the target demo, haven't read the book, have seen or read 99% of genre books/films that this refs (and few of them are genuinely "good")

•clearly tries to hit ALL the main notes from the book, and as such the pacing is stupid.

yeah I got the Prometheus trailer too and this dad next to me hustled his kids out of the theater when it started.

that said, having only watched Twilight via Rifftrax, this is fucking top-tier film-making in comparison.
