i think it's been mentioned before, but this show is written w/out act breaks as i guess weiner was used to writing for the sopranos on commercial free HBO, where he originally wanted mad men to air.

this was more subtle symbolism. every year Don's offspring has literally a new face to present to the world, just like every year Don presents a new face/is ultimately faceless
