Trudy, if you're thinking about dipping your toe in the water, holla @ me in the pms. Maybe we can work together some for some cross promotion.

just finished the whole shannon ep.

that was heavier and more affecting to me than a lot of the "things get real" eps. i wasnt really that into SNL when she was on it so i cant say i'm a big fan, but i like her guest spots (she was really great on scrubs once), and she killed on the live ep.

that little bit at the end where marc was t alking about his mom inspiring his body image issues and shes all "just be gentle with yourself" wrecked me too...

great ep.

slate political gabfest is my favorite political conversation podcast
culturefest is equal parts entertaining/infuriating
XX gabfest is pretty solid, (have a brain crush on hannah rosin)

lexicon valley has been enjoyable. but yeah political gabfest is the only one that isnt a backup if i have nothing else to listen to.

Listening to the Proops/Ice T/Jesse Ventura CBB and I must say it never once even crossed my mind that Proops might be straight. When he referred to his wife, my mind was blown.

Yeah, he jokes about this a lot (how he comes off as gay, I mean, not having a wife)
What became of her? She lived, as she liked to say, off the kindness of gentlemen. I assume she’s dead.

loved this episode. She has a throwaway line about training at Circle in the Square where they used to do crazy physical stuff that nearly made me spit my coffee. I work there now and 4 days a week have to pass through a gauntlet of acting students hurling themselves at one another doing trust falls, practicing stage combat, tumbling and other ridiculousness in the lobby of my theatre. Glad to see one of them got some good use out of it.

I don't really follow this thread or listen to comedy podcasts very much, but do you guys talk about stand up in here as well? Aziz's new standup was okay, laughed hard in a few moments but overall it was pretty mediocre. Anyone else give it a listen/watch?

Aziz had an angry energy to him in his most recent stand-up that really put me off of it even though most of the jokes were good. I wish he would have cut out the whole "suck rhino dicks" thing, it seemed like that bit lasted 20 minutes. standing on stage and reading online exchanges between you and people that hate you is about as played out as jokes about airports/being on airplanes.

the stuff about harris' college essay was pretty funny, but the rest wasn't great. and i like aziz generally.

cbb has been killing it lately though. the sxsw episode and the one with mantzoukas and andy daly were so good.

Yeah this is why I was mainly disappointed at the special, I think it was more of a stopgap in terms of material between the first album and whatever he records next. He's definitely got better stuff than what made it to this special.
