im assuming barbours are pretty reliable, yes? what are my chances of finding one at a vintage store, .0001%?

i figured, w/r/t color. realistically if i saw it in a store i wouldn't even try it on because i'd be skeptical about pulling it off but it looks so nice on the internet.

Instead of buying the Barbour jacket that I really want this year I bought three cheaper jackets that I don't like nearly as much and aren't nearly as durable. Next year is gonna be different

getting a beaufort for the rainy vancouver winter was the best decision

my only minor regret was choosing a size 42 over a size 40, but it's no big deal

Yeah, I want the Beaufort but I've been waiting to go somewhere where I can actually try one on because I have no idea what size I would wear. Can I measure myself?

i don't know. i'm lucky enough to live in a city that has two barbour dealers. the sleeves are kind of short leading to a slightly odd fit

i'm 5'11, 190 lbs and could probably do with a 40 but a 42 looks okay. you're pretty tall right? you'd be looking at 42 or 44

Good to know. I know there are a few dealers here in Cincy that sell them I just haven't gotten to check them out. I tried on a Barbour for Topman jacket at the topshop in Chicago, they were sized SML and the large's sleeves were wayyyy too short for my gorilla arms and of course they didn't offer and XL.

i think ~85% of my svpply is jackets. oi polloi is the worst for this infatuation. i wish it were slightly cool outside all year so i could buy them regardless of season

i used to rep for APC but my tastes have changed and their quality has really kind of disgusted me in the last while. ultimately i think it depends on the factory they use. they've been making a lot of stuff in China lately and it's been total garbage. the washed black jeans i bought from them a few months ago were made in Japan and the quality is much higher than the other stuff i've gotten from them in the last while.

anyone have any tips on where to get a basic navy wool blazer in 36R for <$400, preferably like <$300? I always keep my eye out at thrifts, I've got an ebay saved search set up and everything, but it's hard finding anything decent when I'm looking for like 17" shoulder-to-shoulder, nothing good ever pops up that would fit me. right now afaik the best option seems like j. crew but I'd be interested to know if there's anything else readily available
