nice. it's sort of hard to choose my favorite Unibroue beer, but Maudite probably wins. it's one of the best beers on the planet imo

you're in dc right ?

not sure if you get green flash but it's still relatively new to me in nebraska and it's fucking awesome. west coast ipa is huge, hop head red refreshing, and the rayon vert (to me) tastes a lot like orval, except for 1/3rd the price per bottle. and their bombers are a good deal too, double ipa i can get here for under $6.

others i would imagine you can find in DC: jolly pumpkin, stone, victory, weyerbacher...

yeah, ive had the green flash IPA. they have it on tap at a bar near me. whole foods sells the ipa and a couple of others by that brewery.

is mission brewery (san diego) any good? what about 21st amendment? the store near me has lots from both of those.

i highly recommend Jolly Pumpkin beers. i have never had something by them i didn't like. also, a good way to branch out into saisons and wilds.

Any predictions on how this will all fall apart?

I've had a couple of commercial with Citra and they were just too lemon zesty. One from Widmer comes to mind. I haven't tried ZD, or any 3F.

I've tried brewing at home with Citra and i haven't been able to get a great beer out of it. They always seem too 'bright'. When they first came readily available to me i was so excited reading about them and bought a lb immediately and i'm just finishing it off 1.5 yrs later.

It'll fall apart w/ a shortage which i heard might be starting this year.

definitely. i highly recommend Jolly Pumpkin Madrugada Obscura... i had it tonight on tap, and it's like an imperial stout-sour hybrid. an amazing balance.

Oh man Hoptimum is pretty good. Doesn't taste like 10.4% AT ALL. Very smooth. I like this a lot.

Yo, let's talk easy to find, non-seasonal, non-special release stuff for a bit. Your go-to sixpack or bomber when nothing else catches your eye. Of course easy to find will vary by region, but nothing beats Union Jack, right?

pellegrino viking essays, you should grab one of these...

Bottleworks, a bottle shop local to Seattle, has teamed up with Stone Brewing to create the 13th Anniversary Ale. Brewed with 13 types of malt and 13 types of hops which ferment to a convenient 13% ABV, this is a BIG beer to say the least. The Matts, owners of Bottleworks, are no strangers to collaborating with big breweries, having produced 12 other top-notch brews with the likes of The Bruery, Russian River, Hair of the Dog and The Lost Abbey. As of now, the 13th Anniversary Ale will only be available at Bottleworks and Brouwers Cafe in Seattle with a date to be announced.

it's already out and for sale at Bottle works. I believe it's around $7.00 for a 22.

I guess it's getting to the weather where Upland Wheat is pretty good all the time.

Wasn't crazy about Hoptimum. I agree it's pretty smooth for its level of alcohol, but other than that it didn't really grab me.

I'm very happy that I managed to get a bottle of this:

on tap last night were Kelham Island Wild Rider IPA and Nøgne Ø Bitter, both real good, the bitter particularly which was very round in flavour and easy to drink. wild rider was one of those not so strong beers (5.4%) that comes across a lot stronger. some great flavour in there but perhaps too astringent as a session ale. farting a lot now.

tried the Sixpoint Resin last night after my local got it in

it's good and all, but not great. cool that it's in cans, but ultimately the whole thing feels a bit gimmicky, would much rather just drink a Ruination or a 90 Minute or lots of other DIPAs i can get at the same store

maybe the Sixpoint rye is better

it's a shame they don't put Gemini out... infinitely better than Resin imo.
out of their store-available beers i like their Rye the most. Sweet Action is good too. Bengali and Resin are just standard fare, at least compared to Gemini.

The Maple Porter that I got seemed really light and thin for 7.5%. It was weird. Also didn't taste much maple.

Just cracked open a 2011 Sierra estate ale. For some reason, this is the first time I've seen it in Chicago, but I guess it was released in November. That fresh Cascade and Chinook wet hop flavor is still intact, a rather delicious brew. Wish I could've tasted it earlier, but I guess that's what I get for moving away from the West Coast.
