i've been a casual golf fan since forever, but unlike everybody i know--i'm from southern california--i've resisted rooting for phil. until now.

When I first starting watching golf years back Mickelson was a dude who was always just there or there abouts, every major he'd turn up and come in the top 5. Then 2006 happened and he's been on amazing form ever since so it's hard for me not to like Mickelson. I mean he was +5 at one point on Thursday and is now -8 as todays round was flawless, can't hate on that. Hansen had a great round as well but I doubt he'll handle the pressure of the last group tomorrow with Mickelson. So happy to see Harrington up in 6th too, he's barely been covered by the camera since he's just playing solid golf, if he can knock off the bogeys (three in each round so far) he can make a run at the top.

Hansen's problem is that he peaked too soon.

Oh for sure, like if he was maybe -4 or -5 then he'd have no where near as much pressure on him tomorrow and could play the kind of round he did today. He'll probably nosedive like McIlroy did last year.

yea, I see him shitting himself before he hits the 1st tee tomorrow, which actually would bode poorly for Phil as well. It takes away your rhythm if the player you are coupled with is hacking it up. I could see someone like Paul Lawrie coming from nowhere to win it.

It's got to be the weirdest feeling to be -8 for the day, and still be 8 strokes off the lead.

one of my good friends had 2 tickets for yesterday and was supposed to take his gf, but ended up taking another friend of ours. they were hanging out in one of the member's cabins, got to go into the pro shop and had basically VIP access to everything. really hard to resist punching friend with tickets in the face last night :x

I didn't want him to win, but that shot was so amazing that I can't possibly root against him. Even if I'm not necessarily rooting for him.
