What's your vinyl setup like?

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

Record player is in the living room, on top of a cupboard my dad made when he was a teenager for his own record player. I've painted it since, and it still does the job. Here's some tastefully instagram'd photos

I will post a pic later of my setup.

But, does anyone know a good method to absorb vibrations on an old turntable with no legs.

what kind of budget do you guys put yourself on for buying vinyl? i have a tendency to collect and hoard and fear that I could put myself on the street if I ever bought a record player.

Also, the backlight for the tuner on my Sansui 8080 receiver is kind of blown out. Can I get this repaired for cheap or is it gonna be some big ordeal.

i have mine in a pretty bad spot but there was no other place it would fit, I'd move it but it would make the room uglier and I'm only gonna be here like 2 more months

but i definitely was thinking today "man considering that I'm in the kitchen area like 90% of the time maybe I shouldnt have my music be coming to me through a big thick wall like that

on the plus side I have a giant closet so I stuck my record shelves into the doorway of one of the entrances to it and now I have a door that opens into a giant wall of records which I've wanted since I was like 10
fuck you mom

I had to swap out most of the lights on my marantz when I got it, but it was super simple to do once I got the proper parts and all that, cost about $10 all told.

This is my set up, which is just to the left side of my bed (the black bit just in the bottom of the picture). Records are along the bottom shelf on the bookshelf. Speaker set up is actually just a shitty iPod speaker running out of a DJ mixer, need to upgrade that but there's not much room for decent ones. And for Bino that's a box full of CD's at the bottom, there's another one in behind it.

check the solder points on it, if any look shitty re-solder them. you could buy a replacement rca jack for like $1 if that doesn't work, they're easy enough to replace. if that doesn't fix it then bring it to someone to look it over or just use it as an excuse to buy a new one.

ugh, sorry I can't help.
Got 3 different receivers sitting in the closet because one of the channels has gone on each.

I've had pretty good luck spraying some contact cleaner I got at radioshack on the connection. I did this once a week or so, and it seemed to make for a better connection and get rid of the distortion. Obviously, this isn't a long-term solution, and it's totally possible I was destroying it in the short-term.

my setup is expedits + home-made speaker stands, denon turntable->adcom amp->kef kube->adcom pre-amp->kef 107s.
i am the absolute worst at cable management, so I'll try and post a picture of my rat's nest to offset those tranquil setups upthread.
