Diablo III

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

I'm thinking monk or demon hunter as first character, but I haven't looked at skills past 13. I took one look at the blizzard forums only to see folks who'd already planned out multiple characters to the T. I'm not so dedicated, and playing around should be pretty fun.

I love D2 and it is probably my favorite game of all time, but I am excited to play D3. Just like the first diablo was different from the second, this will have some changes i love and some that I hate.

personal drops are going to be so nice.

personally i just wanna play through the main quest with my friends a few times, and find a bunch of cool shit. couldnt give a fuck about builds, stats and all that stuff. just a distraction from the actual fun of the game (to me. i was pretty young when i started playing d2, so none of that shit even occurred to me, and i pretty much play all games like a simpleton which is how i think they should be played).

I've had access to the beta but barely put an hour into it.
I'll still buy the game because a real money auction house sounds like a lot of fun.

the first month during when d2x came out, i grabbed a green (new set item) hammer in hell which happened to be an immortal kings stone crusher and the going price on ebay was $60. I traded it for 40 SoJ's, which were going for roughly $2/each on ebay. Of course, I wasn't smart enough to cash out but it made playing the game so much more enjoyable having 40 soj's to have/trade with.

my main concern isn't the forgiving nature of misclicks or even concern about how end-game content will be, but the complete lack of replay value after you level cap one of each class... and it sounds like even the level cap will be too easily attainable (at least compared to d2)

i honestly don't know what you consider replay value then. mindlessly doing baal runs to get to lvl 99? that's not replay value. i mean, the basis of replay value in all of diablo 1 and 2 was randomization of enemies/items and the possibility of getting getting better gear. for one thing, that will be ever present in this. the other major type of replay value is trying out different builds. you can play however you want and add runes to different skills, gear up differently to focus on certain skills.

inferno difficulty is blizzard's answer to the level cap and to be honest, i hope the level cap is easily attainable because the end game content is what i'm most looking forward to anyway.

the beta is fun-ish. only the first act, though. the skill runing system allows for some customization but, as with any game worth a shit, you'll eventually min-max out a cookie-cutter build, only you won't have to reroll to do it.

i am going to wait to play until it comes out because i have to study.

why do you think it is bad? i feel like lots of people are let down because it is not exactly like D2 with updated graphics.

i don't like the UI, the game has no grit to it, like it doesn't feel serious, it feels kind of light and humorous, which is closer to warcraft 3 or i guess WoW. i don't think that's the right feel for diablo. it should be unique and stand out from the other franchises. that's probably my main concern because it doesn't compel me to play it, and i don't feel engaged.

I played it for a bit and it was fine and all but holy hell the lag made it impossible to fight more than one thing at once.

I agree that it feels lighter in tone. The UI is mad clunky too. The former I don't mind, it reminds me a lot of Torchlight in aesthetics and tone (Diablo-lite) but yeah way too much text and superfluous shit on screen at all times.

no complaints so far. enjoy the multiplayer functionality and ease of joining friends. UI is fine. i had choppyness until i finished the beta download and adjusted a few settings / updated my video card driver. max settings now with no lag. can't speak to the tone until i get farther.
