the board kind of collectively jettisoned white indie rock over the last few years, so a lot of bands, like arcade fire or the new pornographers or something on frenchkiss records, are going to find their way into this thread. i can't imagine ever listening to like ac newman ever again.

yeah i mean i have no problem with the pornographers. they're obviously not a bad band and i totally bought electric version at a borders in san francisco and loved it, but by now they're sorted in my mind as a band from an era of really white indie rock. it's not particularly fair, but thinking about listening to their records feels so anachronistic now.

yeah i guess this is a good point, its weird to think how different the collective taste is from when there was a top 10 albums of 2005 homepage on here

Totes tried to dispel any consideration of them with his "let's reconstruct the historical listener of the era" bent but you can't shake that they're one of the best bands of the era.
