Can you ask if they have plans for a Chicago brewpub to go along with their production brewery? their Petaluma happy hour and weekly firkin tapping is pretty awesome, and I'd love to see something like that in Chicago. Also, are they planning to expand their barrel aging program?
So I didn't want to stray too far from chicago/the new brewery so I did't ask him about bombers/4 packs. He didn't outright say the new brewery doesn't mean they won't move into LA but he did say it's more about keeping up with demanding and reducing transportation costs/emissions than expanding.
Kuboaa, 140,000 barrels initially.they're not occupying the entire space, just half of it, which is still 150k sqft. As far small batches, they're essentially building a midwest outpost, so they'll do everything here that they do in Petaluma, and Petaluma will continue to to produce everything it already does. Everything east of the rockies will come from here. He sounded excited about doing small batch, chicago-exclusive stuff like Zephyr but there aren't any plans for anything like that right now.
Potential Boarder, it sounds like nothing's concrete but he was very excited about doing certainly a tasting center if not a full on brewpub. I think he wants to, it just depends on how the location works, permits, etc. Which I imagine won't be a problem. Did not ask why he thinks anyone likes their shitty IPA.
Also did a nice little #shotsfired. In talking about how quickly this came about, he talked about how awful it is when companies take a year to scout locations, about how it's really about getting states/towns to offer kickbacks. Said "that's how you end up in Asheville, and not somewhere cool like Chicago."

I'll be pouring my homebrew at the Maproom's fundraiser (Craft Day Afternoon) again this year...
May 19th at Fizz 1-5pm. This event kicks off Craft Beer Week in Chicago. Last year there was a ton of great beer/breweries. Probably the best bang for buck beer event during CBW. More details to follow...
