It's kinda hard for me to digest albums like this, and "Caves Of Paradise" made me want to delete the whole album, but otherwise I'm pretty into this.

Gonna do a little dancefloor edit of Ascending, probably.

i'm gonna go ahead and just call this a dud. 3 maybe 4 standout tracks at best, and probably the worst first half of an album i've heard in years.

I don't agree with Totes that the album's useless, but there's an underlying point in what he's saying. It's just funny how the 10-year cycle is complete and now it's okay to be into IDM again. And if you don't think this is a heavy IDM-leaning record yr kidding yrself.

I've been enjoying it, takes a little while to sink in. But I don't think it's his masterpiece. Same with Splazsh -- The Wire blew their load way too early. But he's closer to isolating what he does best here.

Awkward is a good word to say something about the critical situations which implies a strong feeling for anything.

Those "now it's okay to like" arguments always make me cringe. Music is like anything else: People get into something for a while and then get bored with its possibilities. R.I.P incorporates IDM elements; so what.

I mean, I downloaded this album whenever it was that Mego uploaded it here and listened to it like three times. It's good but it doesn't scratch the itch for me like R.I.P. does.

Ever since someone pointed out that the R.I.P cover looks like someone getting done doggystyle, I can't see it another way.

I've always heard a lot of Terrence Dixon in Actress. From the Far Future gets too little love.

R.I.P is really doing it for me. A step up from Splazsh, but i can see why the Wire and others are lukewarm on it.

yeah so i probably jumped the gun somewhat with my "amber" comment as i hadn't actually listened to it yet at the time!

but yeah, i actually really like half of this... more than anything else of his. i haven't totally given up on the other half yet either. i actually hear a lot of autechre's "oversteps" in some of this. obv farmersmanual are better though... and i think there's pretty big similarities there too. but farmersmanual are almost untouchable in many regards so that's not saying a lot imo

but comparisons aside, it's at the very least a p good album and it's great to see a big name electronic artist pushing their sound further rather than just putting out variations of the same thing. i don't think there's anyone else out there who's doing that. so good for him and hopefully it gets well received.
