for some reason i was shocked to figure out today that a growler is only four pints

does make me feel like less of an alcoholic for finishing a 7.1% ipa growler by myself last week but still

i love public and corruption but i just bought my first sixer of citizen as well and can't really get into it

it's not ... bad, just out of balance a little bit between the hops and the malt. that's some people's thing but not mine i guess

If you're ever in Brussels, there's an amazing place called the Beer Temple, just behind the Grand Place. Bought a lot of Delirium Tremens / Delirium Nocturnum there this morning.

I know i'm in the minority but I really hated Rayon Vert. I thought it tasted like laundry soap and had a mouthfeel that was far too much like champagne for me. I did cellar one of the bottles to see what will develop over the next year.

I can't explain it but I have this taste aversion to american style belgians. I've tried a half dozen Belgian IPAs that are middling at best. The thing is this doesn't carry over to Belgians themselves as I'll drink the hell out of whatever I have access to around here which is usually just Chimays, Duvel, Nostradomus and a few others.

What is it about the Rayon Vert that you guys like?

ive only had it a couple times, but have enjoyed it

that being said, i dont know that id call it a great beer (of the green flash outings ive had w coast ipa, double stout and palate wrecker are all superior)

to me its mostly a pale, but has some subtle brett stuff going on that lends a nice complexity

i get lemon, grass and funk out of it, find it easy drinking with a nice finish

i think it is a very polarizing beer actually - my girlfriend has great taste in beers, likes a ton of the same stuff as me including other green flash stuff, but cannot stand rayon vert and also complains of the "soapy" taste. do you like other brett-forward beers? i think it's very similar to orval (prob because of the brett), which i love but rarely get because of the price point...and being able to get something so similar for $9/4pk is awesome.

like bingo said i get a lot of lemon, grass, funk, some bubblegum...great mouthfeel too i think - not too thin or thick, with a nice sparkly carbonation

i prefer Ommegang BPA to Rayon Vert.
but yeah Palate Wrecker is amazing... had it alongside Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, and preferred the Palate Wrecker significantly.
the only Green Flash beer i wasn't impressed with was Hop Head Red, but i probably had an old bottle.

i didn't mean to compare other green flash stuff. their WCIPA and Double Stout are top notch. But i have tried Le Freak and it falls into the same trap as other Belgian IPAs - seems like a paler version of each style. I either want an IPA or a Belgian, not some half breed.

Anyway, I need to keep exploring the world of brett. I'm not sold on it yet but I also think it can be aquired. I've got another Belgian abbey style ale right now that's about a year old and i'll break it out soon.

that is my favorite style. my old drummer brewed pony kegs of a special belgian blonde IPA we'd bring to shows. it was 8%ish and too drinkable.

Are we talking Belgian IPAs from Belgium or Belgian IPAs that are American IPAs with Belgian yeast? I like Le Freak and Cali-Belgique, but I don't really dig the Houblon Chouffe stuff. Other people I know love that stuff though.
