I dunno if it's really been picked up elsewhere, but Vernon Davis's bro was going around a neighborhood here smashing people in the head with a hammer:

Vikings running back Caleb King was arrested on charges of third-degree assault with substantial bodily harm over the weekend

King was arrested after fracturing the skull of another man at a party early Saturday morning. His victim, Andrew Hayek, is “doing better”, according to his sister, after the attack, which was reportedly precipitated by Hayek telling King that he resembled Eddie Murphy

vilma - a year - effective immediately

hargrove - 8 games
smith - 4 games
fujita - 3 games
these three only count for reg season games, can work out with their teams until then
As life would have it, Johnny did somebody wrong and they filed a complaint.

You see this? Pretty nice move.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed former Rutgers DE Eric LeGrand to their 90-man offseason roster. This is one shocking move because Eric LeGrand at this point in time cannot walk. Eric LeGrand was paralyzed from the neck down in 2010, while making a tackle on a kickoff team while playing against Army.

Greg Schiano has since stayed in contact with LeGrand throughout his rehabilitation, which has been slow but steady. LeGrand eventually led the Rutgers team out onto the field in a 2011 game against West Virginia, and Greg Schiano was right there. And now, Eric LeGrand moves on to the NFL. "Leading up to the draft, I couldn't help but think that this should've been Eric's draft class," Schiano told Buccaneers.com. "This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit, and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men."

Of course, LeGrand won't suit up for the Bucs and play in a game. But this is a classy gesture by Greg Schiano and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a unique gesture by a team and a head coach who truly care about a young man like Eric LeGrand. Also, the Bucs timed the signing for May 2, to represent LeGrand's jersey number (52).

considering hargrove is a packer and fujita is a brown, this is not nearly as bad as i thought. i knew vilma was gonna get the year. losing smith for 4 games can be looked at as an injury. i thought the saints D was gonna get decimated with suspensions.

Temporary members of the 90 man offseason roster don't make millions of dollars. The Ravens signed John Brantley to their 90 man roster, same deal.

I think the temporary roster members might make at most $100k or so.

I was second guessing my reply as I was typing it. I also made a bad John Brantley joke so I guess we're even.

Anyway, Junior Seau was reportedly killed in a shooting today/last night (not a joke)

I totally missed the story in 2010 where he drove his SUV off a cliff after hitting his girlfriend. No wonder he played football so long.

If it is confirmed that Seau shot himself in the chest, it is similar to the way former Chicago Bears defensive back Dave Duerson committed suicide. Duerson shot himself in the chest on Feb. 17 -- the method used so that his brain could be examined for symptoms of CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a trauma-induced disease common to NFL players and others who have received repeated blows to the head.
