Modric alone would probably bridge the gap between City and United.

I'm not sure i'd fancy a Carrick Modric midfield defensively and with our existing wingers and Kagawa providing most of the creative threat, i'd rather bring in a box to box type. Utd's scouts supposedly watched Kevin Strootman ten times last season and he seems to fit the bill perfectly. It's not like i'm going to be upset if we sign Modric though, he's obviously an amazing player.

Pair him with Fletcher or Jones.

I don't personally think much of his defending.

ramblings:

also would finally push anderson out of the team, can't believe he cost upwards of 25m

fletcher who knows when hes coming back. carrick would prob still play, less regularly, maybe thrown more into premier league games? modric and kagawa would really come in handy in big european games, they were just outclassed by teams like basel (!), porto, and bilbao in midfield last season. basically, before scholes came back, their answer to those types of teams were to throw giggs and jones into central mid and pray it works out.

not alot of playing time for scholes/giggs if all these transfers happen

giggs looked rough for much of last season, much like scholes in his "final" season

maybe a retirement and subsequent lazarus would sort him out

Lewandowski/ManUtd update. Polish journo Mihal Pol said Smuda's comments were flippant/not serious. "He'd be the last one to know" (1)

raphael honigstein ‏@honigstein
info from Lewandowski's people: United made enquiry a month ago, categorically knocked back from Dortmund. no contact since

Being linked with Strootman today though. Make it happen

That's cool. I'm gonna feel terrible/mixed enough about Kagawa. And I really don't think United even need a striker.

Kagawa SLAMMED Lewandowski just last month

Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa has described Robert Lewandowski’s game as selfish.

The Japan international and the Polish striker have scored over 30 Bundesliga goals between them this season but that hasn’t stopped Kagawa from criticising his attacking teammate.

"Lewandowski's game is purely focused on trying to score himself, rather than playing together with his teammates," Kagawa told Nikkei.

"He never looks around him for players who are in a better position than him. That's why I hardly get the ball from him. There's nothing you can do about that, though. That's simply the type of player he is.

"He has scored 20 times, and I have 13 goals to my name. The only difference is that he doesn't cooperate with other team members. I am convinced that he would score more goals if he made better use of me on the pitch.”

Juventus?

I am far from confident that we'll keep him but this does feel different than the Nasregas situation.

i would be more ok with him leaving for juve than basically anywhere else but i still think he'll stay.
every kid around the world who plays soccer wants to be rivalité. i have a great responsibility to show them not just how to be like a soccer player, but how to be like a man.

Is Diame any good? A few of my friends really rate him but I haven't seen enough to make a judgement. Pretty worrying that he needs a defibrillator at the side of the pitch because of a heart condition though

He'll be a better back up to Lucas than Jay Spearing.

Yeah but Spearing is woeful. Sometimes I found myself asking if we should have kept Poulsen.

That's a bit drastic. You don't have to pay Jay Spearing much.

I appreciate his effort and its nice to have local players but he's really bad. He'll find his level in the next couple of years being a decent player in an average / upper championship team, just like stephen wright, neil mellor and a bunch more of our academy graduates have

Only through injury, and after 6 years as a decent player for Preston / Sheffield United. I don't want to sound too harsh on Spearing cause I do want him to succeed, I just don't think he's got the ability to succeed in the Premier League. On the topic of Mellor though, has his place in Liverpool folklore alone for those 2 performances in 2005. :P
