Diablo III

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

I got to belial on inferno finally. He was easy on the other difficulties but he's a shithead now. Seems like blizzard+venom hydra and running around like an idiot might be the way to go but I still haven't gotten to the stage where he's all big and angry yet.

With Beliel its all about damage. It's easy enough to avoid his pools and swipes but if you don't kill him fast enough you are gonna have a bad time. I'm guessing as a wizard though you are already glass cannoning it, but he was way easier on my monk when i gave up some defensive skills (esp since blind doesn't even work on him) in favor of more damage.

I really didn't want to but I switched to VHydra and Blizzard with reduced casting cost, Teleport with fracture, Prismatic Armor, Sparkflint, and Magic Weapon with the poison damage rune. I also swapped out my skull for a shield. I now destroy Act 1 and farm Act 2 decently.

My old build was Magic Missle, Arcane Orb, Blizzard, Teleport, Force Armor, Force Weapon. It was more spiky (arcane dynamo + crit on arcane orb would yield some nice 6 digit numbers) and maybe a little more fun because of that, but dying became too expensive.

the act i to act ii difficulty step up is jarring. went from soloing the butcher to running from groups of bugs and catpeople in the very first quest of act ii.

I keep falling into the trap of trying to get a good NV stack up when I should just be trying to make progress through the game. Some elite packs aren't worth bothering with now that repairs are expensive.

Finally got to level 60 and don't have the time to farm/collect gold to get the gear it takes (a barbarian) to get through Inferno elites/champs/bosses.

So I've been trying to win auctions for a few real dollars here and there to get adequate stuff. Pathetic I know but really theres no way I'll ever be about to beat this otherwise without spending time that I just don't have. Hell, the 55 hours I've put in already seem like a lot.

Im kind of tempted to try the whirlwind/loh/crit/sprint build that seems to be the rage these days.

i've been riding cleave with a highish (780~) life on hit coupled with ground stomp with the wrenching smash rune. it'll suck all the fuckers around you into a tight little spot and stun them for 4 seconds, then cleave has you healing whatever your LoH is times the number of mobs you managed to lasso in, so i'm usually healing for 3900+ health a hit. it's really effective and i've lived on it for crowd control since nightmare.

plus ground stomp's cool down is only 12 seconds so it can be somewhat spammed if you can survive the 8 seconds between them being unstunned and the skill re-popping.

edit: single, stronger mobs can be handled by the same high life on hit and fury + that rune that has a high chance to stun for 2 seconds. so far at full fury that stun buys me enough time to keep my health maxed, but in act ii inferno it's waning

I'm sick of a1 farming so I decided to start playing the auction house a little bit yesterday afternoon. All my farming in total has probably netted me a few million gold over a couple weeks, which I sank back into things like gear upgrades, gem upgrades, staff of herding, etc. In just an evening of playing the ah, where I check for five minutes or so each hour and do other shit like watch netflix the rest of the time, I went from 400k to 2.1 mill, including a 865 dps 100 dex socketed one hander I snagged for 500k that could sell for millions, but I think I'm going to use it for a little while. That's including silly mistakes I made because it was my first time doing this, like buying a 1 hander for cheap with a bunch of strength and afterward realizing it was a fist weapon.

I made the Staff of Herding last night

Seemed like I was getting a lot of gold even on normal. Is Whimsyshire good for farming gold at higher difficulties?

it used to be better before the "mf doesn't apply when you open a chest" patch. it was good to farm gold on, if grinding for gold, on nightmare with goldfind items. at least it paid for iteself after about an hour or two.

edit!*

I used to throw average crap on the AH and it would get scooped up, now I can't give away Hell gear

If I can get some capital together I'm gonna try your strategy

i could lend you 1mil if you want to try it.. gold is pretty meaningless to me right now since it's so easy to get when doing that/not playing much right now

also, you'd only need about 200k to start doing 2-3 at a time low-money flips that give profit of 20-50k/ea

I'm playing through Nightmare on a barb now with the Enchantress and I gotta say she's a pretty huge upgrade over the Templar in every respect

got my demon hunter into inferno, almost done with act 1. quite a bit easier than it was with the wizard. now that I have a couple 60s I'm hoping the farming is more productive with less gear wasted

I love the new bug where after Deckard Cain gets killed you can still find him dancing around outside his house for a while.

yes, there is a way. but it only works for items you've sold but haven't collected the gold for yet.

before you collect the gold from the item (before clicking "send to stash"), you can open a message to anyone and shift+click the little gold-stack icon to the left of the amount you're getting (not the big picture above, but within the stash list). you might need to send the message to someone to be able to click-to-view-item though, and if it had sockets you might not get to see which gems were inside.

just wanted to re-emphasize how easy the AH is. i cut/dragged purchase cost/sold price in ms paint from mostly yesterday buyouts of maybe 2-3hrs total searching for stuff at different times during the day (maybe for 15-30min/ea time) when i got bored and wanted to procrastinate something else (net gain: about 18-20mil from the picture below)
