Crossroads music on Hawthorne is good if you're into records of all sorts and aren't looking for anything particularly new. It's a big space with different vendors/genres being sold. Mostly Vinyl.

gl razzle. finding a job here is no easy feat as some boarders can attest.

j-ol, are you travelling solo or with friends/family? for work or fun? I'll be happy to show you a night out for food, drinks and other cool spots, it'll be fun. Shoot me a pm if you want to exchange numbers.

Dirty Three is playing at Mission Theater on October 3-4. Tickets are $25 a night, though, which seems a bit steep :(

Rimsky's
I went to this coffee and dessert place when I was in Portland a couple years ago and it's like nothing I've ever seen. It's a completely nondescript victorian with no signage. Inside has totally unconventional decor (definitely worth exploring upstairs) and the people that run the place are real pranksters who have rigged up some pretty weird, subtle devices to fuck with unsuspecting customers' heads. Also, if you have time, visit Powell's, an independent bookstore that fills an entire city block

going to rent a place for a month via airbnb in SE, between one in Brooklyn and another in Hawthorne, to get a feel for the area to see if we want to move there.
worst case scenario it'll just be a month long vacation to Portland.

so many things I'm excited to check out.

Had a really fun time hanging out with j-ol and co. last night. We went to Portland City Grill, Ground Kontrol (briefly) and Le Bistro Montage for some beer and spold mac. I got a kick out of j ordering a Mickey's :D.On the way back to their hotel I was able to point out some cool spots like Holocene and Rimsky's.

Here's a pic I took of Burnside from PCG (ignore the window reflection)

Thanks for toughing it out through the long night. 5/5 hangout, would recommend.

I'll try to come out to see FWWM tonight at Hollywood, if not let me know what bar you guys head too and I'll probably head that way.

And just to confirm, Last Thursday is happening tomorrow from 6-9PM on NE Alberta St., so that'll probably be worth checking out.

I heartily second the Pine State rec.

I am one of those people who must eat every two hours, but with a Reggie Deluxe in me, I'm good to go for most of the day.

Also if you like cocktails you should check out Clyde Common and Beaker and Flask. I forgot how good these places are until I went back a few weekends ago.

Yeah, I'm definitely going, already bought my ticket. Didn't really think I'd ever get the chance to see it on the big screen.

I'm wearing a red and blue striped shirt if any of you see me and wanna say hi. :)

Ha, sorry dude. I'm sure it would've been very hard to locate each other given how packed it was. Really glad I got to see it in a theater although the audience laughed way too much for me.

Pre-order the new Golden Retriever and get a bag of Stumptown coffee.

i'd like to have that record but i don't have any use for stumptown coffee and so maybe i just won't buy it.

so looks like the harsh noise worship weekend sucks for visiting family. anything cool in town coming up in the fall? keeping in mind that the lead-in example of things that are cool would be harsh noise worship.

I'm sure I'll go to that GR gig. As much as I like Stumptown and the mere novelty of receiving a bag of coffee with an LP, I'll probably just wait and pick it up at the show.

Bought my ticket for Liars a couple weeks ago, so I'll see you there.

Would like to catch some black metal and/or skramz but so far I'm not finding much.

Hit up the Alberta Pine State Biscuits tonight. Definitely worth the hype. Best time to go since the place wasn't busy and they had happy hour specials. Got The Reggie of course ($5), and some of their pimento cheese (one of my favorite foods like that of many southern-raised folks) which is made with goat cheese. Cheerwine™ to drink, but that's a given.

Will be at the Concern thing tomorrow night (Ensemble Economique's also on the bill), so post here if you're going and I'll say hello.

Yeah, passed Salt & Straw in my Alberta ambling. Had just eaten so I didn't feel like braving the long line. Area was full of awesome stuff, though. Heard good things about Thai Noon and del Inti, so I'll hit up those soon.
