The Dreamcast was the first time they had arcade home ports of games that were better than what you got in the arcade.

Yes. I mean the Dreamcast is literally my favorite system and it boggles my mind that Sega could have screwed themselves out of the home console market so badly with poor marketing campaigns and decisions that drove away a lot of 3rd party developers.

The Dreamcast also did 480p out if you bought the box that converted to a VGA connection(which nowadays there's no reason not to buy) and has better graphics than the Wii.

I got one of those, I didn't think it was all that great, some games don't even run on it

i just wanna say that shenmue was incredible. i remember playing it on christmas while extended family members were over and some of them were intrigued by it. i explained how the world was open and you could interact with more things than you could in pretty much any other game. "watch this, see that vending machine? i'll buy a soda." my aunt got all snotty like "don't buy another soda" rolling her eyes at the game, and me. she wanted to put something else on the TV even though most of the family was down in the basement watching a movie or something. i kinda got upset and told her to go home, and she started bitching to my mom. "your son just told me to go home. is that what you want me to do?" c'mon i was twelve years old and she was like thirty. i didn't realize until later that she is kind of emotionally unhinged, but i should've known the moment that she didn't humor a twelve year old enjoying shenmue.

i have a wallet of about 80 burnt dreamcast games. The Dreamcast version of Bangai-O is a must have if you've never played it before

also, the only problem i've had is discjuggler being so damn unreliable. I had a period where I successfully burnt one game every 4 discs. wasted a ton of cd-r's

Plays a lot like Contra meets Metroid. Not sold on the graphics, they're about as good as a really good SNES game, but they work, pretty fun though

For some reason I never played Shen Mue, and my Dreamcast doesn't work anymore. I need to buy another one. I had spells where I was insanely into Jet Set Radio though. Skies of Arcadia was pretty good too.

The Saturn was a beast. No one ever remembers it but Dark Saviour was a great game. Nights, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Metal Slug. I never played Burning Rangers, maybe I should buy another Saturn too.

Y'all wouldn't like Shenmue if you weren't there in the beginning. It's dated and even back then it was a pretty broken game, but the charm and ambience was second to none. I genuinely cried when I beat Shenmue II and I'm not afraid to admit it. I own all four Yakuzas and they're prized possessions. It's definitely a decent successo series to Shenmue.

Nice. They did a PS2 remake of NIGHTS that I forgot exists. Anyone play it? What's the verdict? Never got around to NiGHTS on the Wii, but I remember that it basically got the same slapdash Sonic Team treatment that destroyed the Sonic series.

Anyone play Shining the Holy Ark? I loved that game so much. Shining Force III too, I was pretty upset when they didn't release parts 2 and 3 of that in the UK

my brother has the japanese pt's 2 and 3, and ran through both by downloading a translation online.
i lived near a shop that sold important saturn games, and i still have an amazing collection of capcom fighters like pocket fighter, marvel vs sf, darkstalkers etc

I remember bringing home brand new copies of Shining The Holy Ark and World Series '98 from Funcoland in the summer of 97. I'm not sure they released on the same day, but i think i spent 2 or 3 weeks not going outside shortly after

Saturn was my first console. I still have it and despite all the things its been through over the course of 17 years, it works pretty damn well. Actually just played Panzer Dragoon the other day.

My dad did regional sales and stuff for Sega through some contractor so I just got a shit ton of games for free. They also sent him eight consoles and a couple hundred too many copies of NFL 2K1 and NBA 2K1 in disc sleeves.

Unexpectedly fell in love with that Marine Fishing game with the controller. Pretty good RPG mechanics in that one. That was probably my favorite non-2K game on the Dreamcast.
