Somebody paid fifty one dollars plus shipping for a used item that retails for 49.99 new, shipping included. The company that makes them even sells them on Ebay. Thats hustling backwards.

have this, it's the only synth i have and it's ok. i really like how customizable everything is but some of the base sounds to work from are such shit. it takes me a while to get sounds i like but it's cool.

what about getting a Kenton USB Solo? I have a Yamaha CS10 which only has CV and I got one of those and it works great, plus you could use it with other CV gear in the future. I've mine on a patchbay so I can hot swap easily. I got mine for £120 with two 3.5mm-to-1/4" leads. Plus it works over USB.

Those Kenton boxes work nice. I've got a PRO SOLO (CV/GATE) that I use with my Roland SH2. The Juno 60 doesn't have CV or Gate inputs. It's got the Roland pre-MIDI communication port called DCB (the Jupiters are the only other synths that use this I believe). Kenton does make a MIDI->DCB converter but it's more than $100.

I'm thinking about picking up a this kit for 90 euro. Replaces the DCB port with MIDI only requiring a little soldering. I think the Kenton box is $245 on ebay right now.

wow that kit is v cool, definitely worth the cash. im terrified of soldering my 106, the 5th voice chip is dead and i bought a new one but haven't got the guts to install it yet. might give it to someone a bit better at electronics but i also don't want it to leave my flat cause i use it all the time! one day...

next for me is a DX7. even though FM8 runs SysEx patches and I usually stick a 12-bit reduction on it, so it is literally, the same thing (in theory), I still want one. I also want a JX3P even though I have a Juno and it's very very similar. Love that sequencer and the presets are great.

My wife's Micromoog has been fucking up again and driving me crazy. If she wasn't so attached to it I'd want to give up on the thing.

I got one of those Dave Smith Mopho modules and it's twice as cool as I thought it would be. Now that the full keyboard version is out, the modules go for around $250 on Ebay.

the presets are bullshit – I spent 2-3mins every time i previewed a sound backtracking it to something that wasn't covered in effects and modulations
it's like Roland wanted it to show off the depth of the synth rather than create anything useable off the bat.

if you don't have a Juno 106, you will be able to get one for $700 and they are the proper version of the Gaia imo, and they've got MIDI too.

this makes the Juno just as flexible as the gaia and with full analogue guts.

i just can't get my head around how much people are adopting the Gaia, it's madness! I thought it'd be scoffed out of the limelight.
still, very glad to see a return to screen-less synths with no menus from the big companies. Korg with the monotron and Roland with the Gaia, they're obviously well aware of the constant demand. let's see how Yamaha respond...if at all

the Mopho Keys is pretty fucking cool – the main problem with it is that you go to play chords on it all the time! it has a very Prophet sound and it feels like it should be polyphonic. but it is ultra awesome for the price.

btw, the fact that you're wife is attached to a micromoog makes me happy : )

Left reel to reel is hi-fi as shit and gets used for analog mixdowns and slowing things down. Middle r2r is a piece of shit and gets used for loops and making things sound filthy. 4-track is just kinda there and gets used as a mixer sometimes. Do most of my recording in Logic Pro.
