Yeah see, I kinda hate both those films, I really loved the grandeur of synecdoche... though and of course PSH being incredible as usual.

now I'm intrigued. what do you hate about them?

yeah, synecdoche was great.

i just read this teleplay for a pilot charlie kaufman wrote called Ramblin' Pants, pretty awesome stuff.
its a shame nobody ever picked it up

I'm not really sure, John Cusak rubs me the wrong way I guess, I didn't really like the story.

I suppose I don't really hate Adaptation, just didn't excite me that much, and the fact that I've seen it 3 or 4 times now thinking I hadn't seen it before each viewing is weird. I still couldn't tell you what happens in it, I find it obviously, really forgettable.

I mean S,NY, was one of those films that actually dropped my jaw and made me think that I could actually change my life in a significant way if I put my mind to it.

Dear Zachary. the story itself made me sad and angry but the way it was presented was just too scattered. i admire the guys dedication and intent but he just didn't grip me emotionally. maybe my heart is just defunct.

why would you watch this?

there's something fascinating about how cynical and calculated the franchise seems to be, while also having elements that don't make much sense in a mainstream fantasy movie, like using most of the film not on any kind of escapist action, but on different methods of describing how depressed a greasy-haired, normal-looking teenager is (while lykke li is playing on the soundtrack). the fact that most/all critics have hated it and that it's easy to point out its failures as a movie (really bad script, bad acting, bad editing, bad special effects) for some reason makes it more relatable and fun for me.

also, synecdoche was great.

Really enjoyed it. Anderson's typical quirk-as-character deal actually fit here. I guess he's just been making cartoons all along. Plus I have a big soft spot for stop motion stuff.
