I listened to this while I was cooking and it was completely incoherent.

It is almost like he is completely making it up as he goes.

that's classic simmons straight from the Page 2 days: create a premise with a large set of rules only to break it the minute bill starts to sweat even a little

This cracked me up, but I'm also kinda surprised that Bill is any taller than 5'9".

It just felt like it should have been a layup episode and he botched the execution by making a dozen contradictory parameters for what they were supposed to be ranking.

Somehow this happened (on the topic of Obama’s response to Ferguson (?)):

Simmons - “I’m not saying I’m swinging left/right, any of that stuff, but I liked Reagan… but I still stand behind the Reagan presidency”

TNC - “God that dude was the devil when I was a kid”

Simmons - “Yeah I know, that’s what I mean”

ever since that commercial I've kept an ear out but never heard him on any podcast talk about soup. millions of other kind of food talk (esp with that Joe House idiot) but never his perfect dish. it's wild.

Simmons will keep talking about Boogie Nights, and none-too-subtly suggest he'd prefer it if PTA just kept making films like that.

Yeah, there's no way that podcast isn't 75% Boogie Nights and another 15-20% Magnolia.

There's a very good chance those are the only two PTA movies he's ever watched.

He definitely didn't watch The Master, and he was bemoaning the fact that PTA "doesn't make comedies anymore" with Wesley Morris a few weeks ago. I think when Wesley mentioned Inherent Vice, Bill just shrugged.
