There needs to be a crossover where Farrah is traded to Jersey Shore and Snookie is impregnated and sent to Teen Mom.

teen mom is kind of like the "but seriously folks..." to jersey shore's raging immaturity.

Catelynn (along with her boyfriend/step-brother Tyler) showed an unbelievable amount of strength and maturity in making her decision to put little Carly up for adoption, emphasizing both before giving birth, after labor, and then again on the reunion that concentrating on what was best for Carly – not her own selfish desires – gave her the strength she need to see her decision through.

To be fair to Catelynn, they didn't become step-siblings until after she got knocked up.

true, but it still feels really weird. They easily are the most functional people on that show though.

Catelynn's situation is crazy because these two 15 year olds are making all sorts of rational, reasoned decisions, and all these miserable, white-trash adults in their life keep giving them really terrible advice.

at times I feel bad for Gary when his fiancee is going ape shit. That couple in general makes me never want a girlfriend.

yeah, the two fat kids with the babies are the only ones that i can remember. i've never actually sat through an entire episode, but i might have to now especially as a sober faced antidote to jersey shore.

the red-head and the girl with her step-brother are the gems.

yeah Gary brings it on, but I just can't bring myself to look at his fiancee and think "you go girl."

Maci is way better than Farrah. Also a dude named Shaq? he's not young enough to be named after the shaq right?

Yeah, I'm really impressed with her and esp. her boyfriend... like you said, his level-headedness and relative eloquence is all the more impressive considering the world he was raised in (and, to a lesser extent, the fact that he looks like a total low-rent Federline).

And yeah, Amber and Gary deserve one another...holy fuck.

My wife got to watch this show and it's the first thing I've been hooked on MTV in years

Catelynn and Tyler got pregnant and then his dad (an ex-con) and her mom (a vacant harpy) got married.

Maci's guy looks like he's been lobotomized or something. Someone needs to save her. Transitive, head down to whatever Southern backwater she lives in and make an honest woman out of her.

In 16 and Pregnant there's a great bit where his shirtless, ponytailed jailbird dad is trying to convince him to raise his child in abject poverty and misery and he's like "Are you fucking serious?"

Last week while they were bowling they kept showing him clearly becoming more intoxicated as the night went on but drinking out of a styrofoam cup, apparently, I assume, to try and "trick" his parole officer. I mean, by the end of the night he was slurring "I got a tattoo of the baby that you gave up!!!"

Anyway, Ryan's parents seem OK, but when his father was trying to reunite them by saying shit like "Do you guys know anyone who has two sets of parents?" I'm thinking, "Well, this particular product of divorce didn't knock up his 16 year old girlfriend in high school, you fucking peckerwood."
