I think my favorite part is when he leaves on the moped after talking to the coach and drives straight into the school bus

I just think it suffered from not having any returning characters other than Kenny. The principle, stevie, Kenny's relationship with his brother's family, Ashley Schafer were the funniest parts of last season - none of them were in this episode and the supporting characters they added just weren't as strong.

Ashley Schaefer was pretty fantastic. I feel like some people just automatically check out when Ferrell comes on screen, which is somewhat understandable, but he's still pretty hilarious in the right role.

Strange to say since huge chunks of last season were obviously way the hell over-the-top, but the new episode seemed a bit too much of a caricature even for the show.

I didn't think it was bad, I just didn't think it was incredible. I'm sure the new people will grow on me.

It seems like the only new people we met in the first episode are the family downstairs, the singer girl, the catcher, and the manager.

Assuming Aaron/Hector aren't coming back, though it seems like they will once KP establishes himself with the Churros. On the other hand, KP doesn't seem to be a man who takes betrayal lightly. Stevie's probably gonna be back by next episode anyways, or at least on the way. The ATM thing sets up how he's going to find Kenny.

I guess the flipside is that my main problem with some of the new characters is that they're filling the family/love interest slots from last season too cleanly, right down to De Riguera's ass being this season's Mixon's tits.

yeah, they specifically mentioned that in the Vice article, Kenny's move from tits -> assman as just one of the transitions he's going through.

The Vice article gives away some of the general themes/directions of this season, so if anyone doesn't want those spoiled, I wouldn't read it.

I noticed that, too, series.

It's kind of like they wrote the whole 2nd season back in his hometown but then just wanted to shake up the locale.
