comedy podcast thread

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

Postby badhat » Mon Nov 08, 2010 8:56 pm

best show, comedy death ray, pod f tomkast, nerdist, doug loves movies, adam carolla, never not funny, etc etc...

i tend to prefer the ones with more conversation and fewer bits - DLM and nerdist really work for me. but it is truly the golden age of comedy podcasts.

WTF is the only one I keep up with, and really the only podcast that has ever kept my attention. I like how personal he is, and like he said on a recent show I like his arc of "trying to become a better person."

You Look Nice Today.

They just came out with their first new episode in nearly a year.
I reduced the temples of Elam to naught; their gods and goddesses I scattered to the winds. The tombs of their ancient and recent kings I devastated, I exposed to the sun, and I carried away their bones toward the land of Ashur.

The Bugle is pretty great. News and satire stuff by Andy Zaltzman and John Oliver. Who are amusing.
Haven't listened in over a year though, so it might have gone off the boil.

WTF podcast w/ Marc Maron
Doug Loves Movies w/ Doug Bensen
The Nerdist w/ Chris Hardwick
The Mike O'Meara Show (warning: old radio deejay. mostly conversational, but there are some bits)
The Don Geronimo Show (warning: old radio deejay. mostly conversational, but there are some bits)
The Joe Rogan Experience

I wish I could listen to more but I have a hard enough time keeping up with these as well as several other non-comedy podcasts... Most of them I listen to them at 2x speed on the iphone.

It's always fantastic when Maron and Fitzsimmons interview each other.

I wonder how long WTF is going to go, because he sort of runs his interviews on personal acquaintance for the most part, and the ones where he doesn't aren't usually as memorable

thats not true. it seems like wtf developed some sort of a buzz, which helped him land robin williams, carolos mencia, judd apatow, and some others that led to some of his best interviews.

I like the Monday Morning Podcast with Bill Burr, but I could see it being boring to a lot of people.

it's really conversational.

carolla is frustrating cuz i think hes one of the sharper guys in comedy... just his ability to riff on anything at the drop of a hat and have something amusing to say about it, but the un-PC thing gets so grating sometimes.... its like... ok we get it dude

but god its amazing how prolific his show is.

never listened to this, but the sound of young america is pretty comedy-centric a lot of the time and i used to listen to that quite a bit

when do you guys find the time to listen to podcasts, btw? most of the day i find myself in a situation where it's not tenable, because it would draw my concentration away or whatever. i basically just stockpile episodes i'd like to check out eventually and then wait for a long bus ride or something

Yeah, when they were experimenting with the 90 minute format, I would fall asleep as soon as he got to the interview portion of it.
I could listen to him rant for hours.
