comedy podcast thread

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

have you guys seen the benson interruption tv show yet, btw?

kind of weird seeing a stage show like that translated to this format, but i think mostly because it feels almost insistently stripped down. which i also admire and enjoy. wonder if, with this and matt besser's this show will get you high and stuff (and john oliver's standup show earlier), if comedy central's trying to go for more stage-based/cheaper programming. it'd be dope if more ucb shows made it to air and stuff. why isn't there a weekly asssscat already?

oh, there you go

as a man who has a non-steering-based commute, i just read on the subway and play jams at work, so having chances (or the will) to sit somewhere and listen to hourlong convos is some infrequent shit

Almost all of my podcast listening is done when I'm walking my dog. Get a dog, andrei.

I just have them on while on the net. In saying that I can;t make it through a full three hours of The Best Show anymore unless I'm listening live..

but god its amazing how prolific his show is.

I've been a pretty consistent Carolla fan for about 10 years but you're right. I still listen every day though and take the good with the bad. Its too ingrained in my daily routine for me to ever quit now anyway. His stand-up/the live shows are not his strong point either. He's just a solid radio guy.

Really? I am having a hard time believing that the guy who hosted that awful 90s MTV show with Jenny McCarthy is the best anything.

Digging the new Greg Proops podcast. I disliked him for years based on my recollection of Whose Line Is It Anyway? but he is awesome as a podcast guest and host. It's called The Smartest Man in the World.

Really should go with only one or two comedians for a 20 min show.

I like Nerdist and I also listen to Smodcast. Not sure how the board skewers towards Kevin Smith. I remember a lot of hate, but the Smodcast is always hilarious.

Comedy Death Ray was also pretty good, but it's been a while since I've listened. They broadcast on Friday's at noon. Not the easiest time to listen. For me, anyway.

The Nerdist has been one of my favorite discoveries of the year. I had kinda forgotten Hardwick existed until I saw him on TV and just downloaded an episode out of curiosity. I don't often get a chance to listen to this stuff, but it's usually at the top of my queue. The live episode with Craig Ferguson is great. The Mythbusters one, too.

Nerdist has better sound now, Comedy Death Ray Radio is the greatest and you don't have to listen live (it's not even done live anymore, the podcast goes up Wednesday), SModcast is further proof that Kevin Smith needs to man up and suck a cock already, Proops is great (his album Elsewhere is worth a listen, as is his appearance on CDRR)

I reduced the temples of Elam to naught; their gods and goddesses I scattered to the winds. The tombs of their ancient and recent kings I devastated, I exposed to the sun, and I carried away their bones toward the land of Ashur.

It is.

It's still really funny, is the point. It's not like there's tons of physical comedy. The sound quality is bootleg-level on some of them (and will never be great since nobody's mic'd) but they seem to have figured it out since.
