been working back through marc maron's archives, listened to his tribute/eulogy to greg giraldo at work last night and almost got choked up when he mentioned the text he sent to giraldo's phone.

mayhem miller on nerdist is sooo weird and awesome.

billy west is annoying but sort of facinating.

fitzdog radio is quickly moving up my list of favorites. he's as sharp as bill burr but operates off the cuff at a much higher level.

just sort of dont care for that always on, hyuck hyuck thing that pops up all the time with guys like that. the voices/fx, the casual self aggrandizing and how impressed he was with his own cleverness a lot of the time. especially how impressed he was with himself whenever religion came up.

the meat of it was interesting, in terms of his annecdotes, but i dont think he really offered up a whole lot of insights into any of the interesting people or moments he was a part of...

from sid caesar to richman to wilson it was more namedroppy than relfective, mostly.

not without its merits. just thought there was a lot of distracting stuff.

like as a point of contrast

listening to mayhem miller talking for an hour made me want to get into MMA, even though i resolutely dont give a shit. his excitement and energy and respect for it was really catchy...

whereas west didnt make me feel excited for any of the things he talked about. mostly he was talking about himself.

Just showed up in this thread, but this was exactly how I felt about Billy West. Been listening to The Nerdist since Day 1 pretty much and this was the first that I didn't finish

yeah i broke it up over two days.

i was ready to quit on it but then went back later just cuz i'm that gay for hardwick.

is anybody else listening to cyberthug?

feel like it has the potential to fill a niche i'd enjoy a lot, basically nerding out over rap and sports....

its a precarious routine though cuz i dont think that the schtick as it played out on CDR can sustain a weekly hour, and they wisely fleshed it out and made it less of a bit. more human. but then going back and doing dumb shit like "white dude" felt, as i mentioned "cheap".

reading ghostface tweets was LOLfunny though. lot of potential, lot of ways to fuck it up.

can see it being better if they manage to get rappers and athletes on it and not just the earwolf nerd crew.

listened to the hardwick interview on fitzsimmons' show last night, the crossover on these shows is pretty entertaining.

after hearing paul scheer on the latest doug loves movies i didn't know he had his own thing now. "how did this get made?", just him and a couple other people + a guest ripping on a movie for 30 minutes or so. i thought it was pretty hilarious and i hadn't even seen the movie

it's nice that it's there, but it's kinda underwhelming in that they try to cram three comics into 23 minutes of airtime and it feels super choppy and abrupt

what've been the best eps of CDR/nerdist/wtf and shit in the last few months? gearing up for a long drive tomorrow and i wanna get some creme de la creme shit lined up

Just got tickets for Marc Maron,
Tired to see him in Brooklyn- but tickets sold out.

Now, I'm home for the holidays, and he is playing here too-
should be great

ABQ for the win.

The Judd Apatow episodes of WTF were great.
The older one with Rob Delaney was even rawer than the DeStafano one, but I wasn't as blown away by DeStefano as you all seem to be.

I agree with this, but there hasn't been an episode in two weeks and it's not on the Earwolf site anymore. Think it's dead, sadly.
