ime: eat first, hydrate more, and only do it in the evening if you have things that require cognitive skills to do. at least until you're used to it a bit more. I can feel mildly groggy from an edible, but I sleep terribly regardless, and feel way better than on booze/melatonin/benadryl which is how I usually sleep if not for thc.
I can do pretty much everything but computer shit/paperwork while high. I don't think that's a bad side effect. it just shows you vividly what sucks and you don't want to do it anymore. I hate numbers and I hate the office suite.
dumb manual labor: blaze me up and watch me fly. since my wife died I've been at my parents and my dad has a hydraulic log splitter. getting absolutely toasted and splitting and stacking firewood has been equal to therapy and exercise on the list of beneficial activities. work reports? no way. I would never use thc until that was done.

Hmmm I don't typically get either of those. I do drink lots of water esp on drugs, maybe that makes a difference

sometimes i'll get really into whatever i'm doing too, like cleaning the house can be pretty fun when i'm zooted

Yeah everyone who's saying drink more water is right. That's the #1 reason you feel bogus the day after. Ideal scenario: take weed at 4-5ish pm, eat snacks, make love, listen to music, shower, hydrate a lot, watch a movie, take melatonin, go to sleep 9-10pm. Next morning start with a crisp glass of ice water while you make coffee. Drink coffee while doing a crossword puzzle. Then you'll come alive

Anything that releases more dopamine than the body is use to will result in a crash as the body tries to get back to baseline. Apparently dopamine levels will drop below pre-smoking levels in this attempt.

Maybe if you're having sativa. Personally It's a good balance with indica and coffee but I tend to try to avoid smoking weed during the day

yea I was gonna say, other than some dehydration (which cannabis doesn’t cause, but if you’re busy having fun you may not hydrate properly) poor sleep could be the cause of the headache, since cannabis also doesn’t typically cause headaches but CAN cause poor sleep quality (even if it helps you initially fall asleep)
The UC Berkeley expert I spoke with described your approach to boarding -- posting things without knowing whether they’re true in order to juice engagement -- as “sociopathic.” Do you have a response to that?

People react to drugs differently, and weed is no exception. it really doesnt matter if its sativa, indica, or a hybrid for me, weed heightens my anxiety.
i'm actually surprised so many people on hpn get anxiety relief from weed lol. i wish that were me.

Coffee and weed is an indescribably great combination both in a drug sense and a pure flavour sense

Those insane dreams are from rem rebound. Brain attempting to catch up. The intense dreams will subside.

Obviously there's not much choice for Geoff re: consumption method but it should also be noted that grogginess is a relatively unavoidable part of the weed hangover, but that headache feeling is not
I'm a migraine person who also has like 10-15 types of headaches in rotation but I know and hate that specific type of weed hangover headache. I get it distinctly from alcohol based tinctures, but also from lower quality edibles.
Try the different options available to you for sure.

yep, finding that sweet spot through trial and error is the best way to reduce day after fogginess imo. the other suggestions like coffee, water, and moving your body (with some chores maybe, or a brisk walk outside) are also good. You will develop a tolerance over time, and will feel the effects (but also the hangovers) less. You can mitigate your tolerance by taking 1-2 day weed breaks every couple weeks, but I totally understand that might be difficult since it provides pain relief.

One aspect that I'm totally stoked about for you is that now you get to revisit every piece of media you have enjoyed previously, high. It's going to rock.
Allow me to suggest rewatching Planet Earth as you wait for your next nightly dose to kick in.

I’m a daily smoker but I’m soooo sensitive anxiety-wise.. I do 1-3 small hits here and there throughout the day, mostly at night, and blend in 25-50% CBD flower into the mix. my last major smoking phase when I was on SSRI’s, I think at one point during the pandemic I was going through 2oz a month.. that would literally kill me right now, I have no idea how I got to that point
but yea, I don’t find being stoned to be automatically relaxing, it can be a knife’s edge with anxiety if I’m not careful, same with caffeination

i don't know if it's because i'm already taking anxiety meds or if i'm lucky but weed rarely heightens my anxiety. i mean the first time there was real anxiety and i wasn't taking meds then but i can count on my hands the number of other times it has made me anxious and it's never been serious anxiety since the first time. and i haven't always been on meds over the years, so i dunno

so far zero anxiety from the THC, but the second time I took it I did not get high. I think I'm immune now.
