dig this a lot - tho that intro is a bit too long

Heard this the other day and loooved it. Her album is pretty good! Saw this earlier version of "The Thrill is Gone" on twitter this morning, so much better than the Mark Ronson-y one they went with; supposedly there's an uncleared Kylie sample buried in there somewhere that was preventing it from being released? idk

I can’t wait for the Rebecca Black album

Gonna check out RAYE at some point (I think I like a few of her older songs?) but that song that went to 1 in the UK didn’t do it for me

lolol

i rly love that million dollar baby song tbh and maybe you're the problem is v cute. maybe i'm being won over

and ya that raye song that went #1 in uk (escpaism) did not grab me either but happy for her. i think she's been thru a lot

gotta say, miley's flowers song had me go fully deep into the Plastic Hearts album and it's rly good. that song "high" got me in my feels :3

i think that's all my pop thoughts right now

im calling ur bluff - the dissertation is due wednesday EOD

yeah it's an inventive take on that sound, like 80s, kind of what weeknd was doing with blinding lights, but not a pastiche of that or the 80s sound

pop pantheon pod did an ep on the weeknd and he really is such an insane pop star story/output
also that pod did a velvet rope retrospective and i can't stop listening to Empty, it's so proto kelela it's crazy
more pop thoughts

the way it sounds like it uses samples but doesnt use samples

the way it sounds partly like an ABBA song

the way it smartly uses acoustic guitars

the way her voice sound great in it

the way her delivery is addicting

the 80s weeknd stuff is the thing i fear the most with her sounds even though im into it.

Still listening to the Ava album daily. What did she put in it? I'm a Maxi Pad now (!) which feels insane

Speaking of ABBA, "One of Us" is my fav and very ABBA-esque in a way that lots of Scandi-style pop gestures towards but doesn't actually approach

Thank you brevity 🙏🙏 and welcome

Yeah there’s so manny ABBA moments and yes One of Us is addicting in that way

Like honestly I’ve never felt more secure with being on the right side of history when I stan her

One of Us would die for love <3 (this has the most funny budget video ever)

I love how good her music is and how half-assed everything else is. Album is nonstop bangers
And I feel like this year is really about, just the year of realizing stuff.

i'm obsessed w this album too, it's very nerdy. one of the songs has the lyric, "do you wanna go to baby’s? it’s been a long week and I don’t want to think and Porches is playing" lol
