Global content leader Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures will bring fans worldwide a new level of deviously treacherous traps, clever clues and suspense as they partner with award-winning actor, director, and stand up comedian Chris Rock to spin-off and expand the world surrounding the hit billion dollar Saw franchise, it was announced today by Joe Drake, Chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group. The new film will be released on October 23, 2020.

“When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins-off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in,” said Drake. “Saw is one of the highest grossing horror franchises of all-time and it’s one of Lionsgate’s most successful film series. This upcoming film will still be as mind bending and intense as all the previous Saw films. Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise.”

yeah, it's low budget, you could probably guess the twist now but at the time i was like, thirteen (?) and it felt so cool to see executed.

All the Saw films blend together in my mind. I can’t say which ones I have and have not seen. I just remember various scenes, like the pit of hypodermic needles!

I liked the first two but I can't remember if it was the third or fourth that was so bad I never watched another one.

saw 2 is maybe the platonic ideal of these as i don't think the first one is really representative of the rest of the series

Every one of these ve s jumbled together in my mind (doesn't help that each successive entry often overlaps with the prior and there's so many call/flashbacks but I remembered 2 being the heavies slog to get through. It's certainly the worst-looking one of these films, excessively drab and colorless

i mean none of even the people that like these movies are watching for their cinematography. at least 2 has a cohesive color palette of florescent lighted piss and shit tones

I somehow skipped from the first to the third and then they spent a good chunk of the third recapping the second, so I didn't feel like I'd experienced a loss :|

part of what was so weird about watching the first one is seeing the Dread Pirate Roberts in a v. serious role, but I do think it's a fun movie despite all the relatively valid concerns about the "torture porn" that came after or whatever (valid in the sense that I have no interest in seeing A Serbian Film, but I did think the first Hostel was kinda fun and saying something worthwhile)
