Klobuchar has a pretty good shot at making it, Beto probably not

Most of my family doesn’t have a high school education and union jobs are what got them to where they are today or at any decent point in their lives and it frustrates the hell out of me to see them vote against their own self interest

Yeah my dad worked in a tape factory for 35 years and I used to also cut tape at the ol factory in the summer and the amount of times I heard people explain how they didn't need a union because 3M was good to them was wild. They're mostly all Trunp psychos now.

My dad is a Christian socialist though, lol

https://deadspin.com/mets-owners-gave-bill-de-blasio-5-400-the-day-before-h-1839229565

The very last donors to Mr. de Blasio’s presidential campaign were executives in Sterling Equities, including Richard Wilpon and Saul Katz, the president of the New York Mets, and several people connected to them.

...But while the filings showed a total of $5,400 given via two separate entities on Sept. 19, the mayoral request came back in April. They simply did not get around to formally giving the contributions until September. If they had waited one more day, they might have saved their money.

Snitch works for an organization that basically made up of Christian socialist. It’s a faith based social justice organization and it’s so weird to try to explain this people because they are so put off by the religion aspect. It kind of makes me sad how close minded some folks can be about it.

Bernie is the only politician I've heard my boomer parents ever express positive feelings towards, but I haven't talked to them about Warren since she's become the front runner.
Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

there are lots of religious organizations that do this kind of work- i'd say that 70% of the "community partners" that my NGO works with are religiously affiliated- which is nice but there's definitely problems that arise from them being involved and it can be hard to navigate sometimes because they're essentially the only game in town for poverty relief programs but also many are kind of shady. we have one church that runs a family shelter and, despite getting probably 50 calls a day from families who need shelter, they still have like 10 open beds because they basically won't take anyone who has survived domestic violence, is in recovery, has a criminal history, etc. because it "doesn't fit with their programs". there's one that advertises itself as being a place to assist new mothers but is just an anti-abortion propaganda outlet.

in particular, the salvation army shouldn't be allowed to take government money to run their programs because they just openly discriminate against people and everyone knows it but you legally can't do anything about it as an agency that also pulls money from the same funding sources.

i'm skeptical of liberation theology for similar reasons. like it sounds good on paper but when ortega took power in nicaragua he immediately banned abortion because his base was primarily the catholic left. i know it's not categorical or anything, i've worked with some really good christian socialists, but i also feel like i've met just as many who will reveal some weird politics once they're pressed a bit.
