Today was day two of going to the park to do body-weight exercises. I did nothing I couldn't do at home, but I find it easier to motivate myself to exercise if I leave the house.

Literally walked around the park today to see if there was something I could use as a makeshift pull-up bar, but no dice

I found a good tree branch but at that moment an armed (!) security guard walked by and I figured he'd harsh my mellow

And I do not know why an armed security guard was patrolling the park. This is a new development.

i’ve got a couple options for a pull up bar in the neighborhood but i don’t want to rely on good weather and nyc parks being sterile/open

push ups and sit ups?

push ups and push up variations
squats and squat variations
use a table or similar to do australian pull ups. or do pull ups on a door. tbh you kinda need a pull up bar!

this book is dumb af but it's got some useful progressions in it

I've probably mentioned farmer's walks in this thread like 30x and doesn't seem like anyone else does them. Like the deadlift, it works pretty much your whole body. Just grab some heavy shit and walk.

But okay keep doing endless pushups daily and neglect your pulling muscles and create imbalances. At least throw in some inverted rows with it

Unless you're like an ectomorph, this isn't really the case. I had to take a month and a half off from any physical activity twice last year due to two surgeries and I didn't lose any noticeable muscle, maybe a trace amount and that came back within a week once I started lifting again. Would take at least 3 straight months of non activity for me to lose decent muscle. And this is coming from someone who typically doesn't give a fuck about protein intake and lives mostly off carbs, so really shouldn't be an issue for most.

farmers walks are underrated. the 20s i have in my place are too light for me to do them without going multiple laps around the perimeter of my apt, otherwise i would

idk how long does it take for body recomp to become apparent? so far i feel and look pretty good doing with just these bodyweight circuits throughout the day

Farmers walks are when I buy too many groceries and walk home
