Way before all of this I was putting software in at a long term care home, working with the infection control specialist.

It was obvious and kinda funny even then how he HATED to shake hands. We'd have an IT sales person come by, and first thing the he'd want to do is shake, which the infection control person would do reluctantly, and then discreetly sanitize his hands.

I would see notices from him around the facility - for instance, near a water dispenser "do not reuse containers" or similar. I thought at the time what a thankless job he had, basically a nag for the organization. No doubt he's been worked off his feet in 2020, hopefully he's getting appreciation. I noted that his long term care home had a brief outbreak but hasn't been as bad as some of the others.

He was a good guy. One of the few truly unique individuals i've met.

yeah i don't understand. haven't we reached the point where we can all just assume at a basic level that the virus actually exists and makes one ill. i guess i'm asking for too much.

this seems like a promising angle

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a libertarian known for his often-contrarian positions, questioned the notion that Americans should be listening to the guidance of federal experts amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s important to realize that if society meekly submits to an expert and that expert is wrong, a great deal of harm may occur,” the senator said, adding: “We shouldn’t presume that a group of experts somehow knows what’s best for everyone.”
