I rewatched inherent vice over the summer, and other than hard eight I think it's handily his worst film. love bigfoot + that match cut when doc sportello gets punched tho

I don't know why I even felt the need to say that, but I guess it's because it takes all kinds, and I love how divisive pta's filmography is

Boogie Nights fucking owns, people wanna hold back on saying it's one of the greats because of how flashy it is, fuck that. Only Phantom Thread and The Master might be better imo.

edit: shit, I meant Phantom Thread

Dude was 26 when he made boogie nights. Hard to even fathom. Definitely a young man's film with a young man's confidence.

Reminds me how my dad once called me to talk about how he went to see phantom thread (he knew nothing of the movie other than it was about fashion) and ended up blown away by it. I told him it was a PT Anderson film and he went "the guy who did boogie nights? No that can't be true"

I haven't watched the leaked trailer because I want to keep myself pure for an officially sanctioned release that wasn't recorded by someone's phone 😇

Went to see Rushmore tonight at the Coolidge Corner theatre and they played the trailer for Licorice Pizza. Looks good. I’ll definitely watch anything that Tom Waits is in no matter how big or small his part is.

Whoops I broke edge and watched the phone-recorded trailer

I get why people are making a John Huston comparison with Tom Waits here but it's worth noting that's what Tom Waits sounds like
