Liberal dude who flipped 40+ houses in my city is currently leading the NDP by 1 vote in my riding with less than 10 polls left to report. I had no hope of any positive outcome in this election but this would still be pretty hard to take

The media definitely has some Trump-syndrome with the PPC where they give them so much attention and air-time because it's fun to gawk at the wacko fringe conservatives (the amount of time spent talking about how everybody is ignoring the masking regulations in the HQ last night, for example) that it eventually catches the attention of first-time voters / total dipshits. Awful that they can't allot that time to the climate change problem that's going to destroy civilization!

Those are def good pts. Agree w all that

I don't know if they positioned themselves as Anti-Establishment but their voters sure painted them as that. That's gonna pull 3% of voters no matter what. Like a Fuck You vote

Like a Rhino party but they'd actually sit in parliament if they got in.

Imagine what kind of human garbage you need to be for people to even think about $600m being worth it to oust him.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

it was humorous hearing clips of Maxime's speech on the news in SK today.

fascinatingly, somehow Western resentment/alienation/generalized hatred of French ppl is temporarily suspended for a bunch of rural chuds to cheer at him haltingly say in English, "The purple wave is COMING!!" or w/e lol

The one consolation (lol) is that climate change will only become more of a driving issue as time goes on while there's at least some chance of COVID fading here which takes the wind out of the PPC's sails a bit. Without the antivaxxer/COVID denier vote I don't think they'd have had nearly as much of a jump in share this election.

Are there any good political histories of Saskatchewan? I would be interested to know how the trajectory goes from Tommy Douglas to Maxime Bernier.
