Smoking weed on the porch with this in the headphones. It's a cool, breezy, cloudless night and all the cicadas for the season are almost gone.

When "One from the Vault" came out, the performance was 16 years old.

"One from the Vault" came out 30 years ago.

Yo this DS>Spanish Jam ( Phil bombs) > US Blues
Best US Blues I’ve heard. The transition coming out of Spanish Jam into US Blues it’s ridiculous. Unfortunately this mix on the archive here pauses. The intro to US Blues is three minutes long. So good.

Also on Dave’s 34 in super duper clean fashion

This would be a good bit. I could see you and guy adopting duelling avatars, like he's a sandwich and you're a keyboard player who looks like Krusty the Clown in a Dan Flashes shirt.

someone just said to me “2023 is the 50th anniversary of Watkins Summer Jam if Phish wants to come back”

and I retorted “it’s also Phish’s 40th anniversary” before imploding at the realization that there is only 10 fucking years between those two things

gotta do something with my brain when I’m not strapping chicken wings into the front seat of my car before watching 6 straight hours of Brooklyn Nine-Nine

One time when I took acid at home after dinner I started watching that show in the middle of the night when I couldn't get to sleep. The sun coming up while you're coming down and watching Brooklyn 99 alone is a real sad touch of grey moment let me tell you.

The blaring horns of the theme song every 22 minutes, Netflix asking "Jesus are you STILL watching Brooklyn 99" every three or four episodes

yoooooo I always think of Hunter’s description of the act of writing Touch when the sun starts coming up and I’m still fucking high and in that weird state between chemically aroused and existentially miserable

Shit when I was younger I lived by train tracks and when I would come down strung out from acid, somehow Id find myself watching reruns of fucking taxi with the most depressing theme song of all time with a train in the distance. That was lonely stuff.

I saw Hunter play solo acoustic in an amazing classic music hall that was maybe 1/8 filled.

My boss at the time was there, i came from the cheap seats to say "hello"

I sincerely think to this day that he never believed I actually liked the dead the right way.

fuck him.

edit, good god, i love the internet

the phish head I was talking to tonight that mentioned Watkins is the same fucking way.. if I ever gave a shit I’d snap and be like “IVE BEEN TO MORE SHOWS THAN YOU YOU 1.0 ERA HUMAN EMBODIMENT OF THE BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN SONG GLORY DAYS” but instead I just smile and nod rather than stooping to that level

it's funny, because it's mixed with so much welcoming. But yes, people can be insufferable.

still a newb with all this but want to recommend 3/21/72 academy of music nyc if ya haven’t heard it. doesn’t seem to have been officially released ever. the second set is just bonkers, starts with truckin’ which starts normal enough but by the end of its 11 min runtime just goes straight into the ditch then -> (via drums) the spaciest other one i’ve heard yet, almost completely formless with phil really chewing the scenery then -> a devastating wharf rat. i honestly had to shut it off after that, couldn’t take any more, just too intense. but in a good way
