The survey from Quinnipiac University Poll released Wednesday found that 47 percent of registered voters polled said the Democratic Party has moved “too far left;" however, most of those voters identified as Republicans.
The poll found that 79 percent of Republicans surveyed said the Democrats had moved too far left, but only 17 percent of Democrats agreed. Just under half, or 48 percent, of independents said the party has drifted too far left.
Hmm okay well thanks for the poll.

People have been gauging Warren's progressive bonafides against Bernie but I'd be more interested in seeing how left Warren would be compared to Obama

538 thinking libertarian and populist thought are antithetical is a pretty good summation of technocratic understanding of politics

murray st. wrote:G_S wrote:let me reiterate-- Elizabeth Warren fought for and started an agency that regulated capital accumulation and returned value to workers. she might not fully conceive of it that way, but that's what the CFPB does from a Marxist standpoint. why ignore this to accuse her of being a centrist in progressive clothing? it suggests to me that some Bernie supporters are more interested in personalities than a mass movement based on class politics, and they like Bernie's and don't like Warren's. you see it when they have to resort to odd psychological explanations for why they think Warren will betray us, or when they chasten her for building a coalition that includes people who don't hate Obama or whatever.
most bernie voters are extremely ideological and inherently distrustful of anyone who doesn't share their ideology
i think it's an insane way to think about electoral politics, but for those who articulate this clearly and honestly, like many people in this thread do, it's at least consistent; the painful bullshit is when the meagan days of the world have to invent weird conspiracy theories for why warren is secretly a centrist republican because to acknowledge that their dislike of her is shaped by ideology and not rooted in objective and undeniable fact is to forfeit the moral high ground that serves as their only rhetorical weapon
left Twitter is cringey about this shit, but you guys are acting like this stuff happens in a vacuum and isn't born out of what is for most of these people (and most of us) an entire fucking lifetime of national Democratic politicians being left-punching squishes who love hoarders of capital and compromise with reactionaries.
like people don't always express it in the most palatable way but you cannot possibly think that mistrust is irrational given our shitty modern Democratic Party.
