buttigieg gonna be in portland to raise money from one of our shadiest local big donors. one of the key dudes is the developer who takes credit for gentrifying the mississippi district, a historically black neighborhood that is now nothing but upper class white people. so i guess it's appropriate!

the firm i interned for in grad school is running it lol

this to me is the weirdest thing like we're about to start gearing up for an election in the next 3 months and that'll all be done and dusted and you guys will be hovering somewhere around what the 4th debate? it just can't need to be this drawn out can it?

ending the lobbyist revolving door doesn't do shit when we're merchants of death the world over

"poor people getting killed by American weapons overseas is okay as long as the American taxpayer isn't getting screwed over by these unethical lobbyists"

i'm sure warren probably does some shitty home state lobbying for one of the major companies headquartered in her state, the same way she has for medical device manufacturers, but i read that entire piece, including the two sentences buried deep in the piece that even try to defend the claim, and i'm still not sure what the case against her on that end is. she returned their call once in a senate campaign, visited a factory, and accepted some limited donations from defense industry employees? (the piece does also mention that she went to bat for a lousy communication device manufactured by another defense contractor in her state)

this is pretty weak. a facility visit and a phone call and now she's a raytheon shill? also i'm guessing these are defense industry employees and not corporate pacs
She reportedly made an effort to reach out to both companies during her 2012 Senate campaign and time in the Senate, including facility visits and at least one phone call to Raytheon’s chief executive. She also accepted more than $80,000 in donations from the defense industry from 2011 to 2018 and in her first year in the Senate fought to stop the Army from shifting funds away from a General Dynamics-built communications network that a government watchdog has dinged for cost overruns and performance deficiencies.

Yeah I read it when it was posted previously in this thread and I thought saying there was a “connection” was a bit of a stretch
