My father-in-law is an economist and has been pushing the expanded earned income tax credit thing for a while. I think it sounds like a good idea when he’s presented it to me. He doesn’t feel like pushing corporations any further on a living wage is ever going to actually work so the only other way is to supplement income through a bigger tax credit.

Idk because I don’t understand economics though

expanding tax credits in a way that benefits working/poor families is a really good policy yes

Milton Friedman's endorsement of a policy is not one that I take as a positive

That said, UBI and Tax Credits and whatnot are good. Campaigning on them is something I can at least vaguely support.

the other thing about tax credits is that you can probably accomplish it through reconciliation

its just a real basic Keynesian lever to pull to counteract wage stagnation. I like it because "wage stagnation" kinda hides the political contribution. But more so than that the plan brings into the fold (at a lesser rate) childless workers.

imo this has some advantages over (or in addition to?) a UIB bc, simply, if people are paying in what they reasonably can (a theoretical functioning progressive tax system) and getting what they need (single mothers get more, so on)-it can function more explicitly as payment for the reproductive work of society. I haven't heard that articulation from anyone else tbh

true leftists should propose a tax penalty for children instead of a credit due to the associated carbon emissions

Smooth lever mechanism and large press chamber EMPOWER the AVERAGE AMERICAN with minimal grip strength, lessening the food preparation time so that you can FOCUS on creating dishes on par with professional chefs.
