the fact that chait seems to think that teachers are more of a moneyed interest than people with enough money to be called philanthropists is fuckin bananas

"Both sides spent a lot: [link to a graph that shows one side spent almost 50% more than the other, with $15 million in dark money on the pro-charter side]"

They discussed it at length on today's (excellent) LA Podcast, but Garcetti announcing he's running as a teacher's strike begins and multiple members of the city council (plus his former deputy mayor!) are implicated in an FBI corruption investigation would be *chef's kiss* and I believe he's just enough of an idiot to do it.

purely by how often they mention his impending campaign LA podcast has slightly inflated garcetti's chances in my mind from "totally implausible" to "merely implausible"

but such is the california democratic party system that i guess he has nowhere left to go once his term is up in 2021?

Like, yeah it definitely sucks that Obama felt politically obligated to stay opposed to gay marriage and we absolutely should criticize him for that. Tulsi was into conversion therapy shit.

lol absolute nightmare because any campaign's equivalent documents would be super embarrassing but:

- inclusion of red welcomes conservative voters
- equilateral sides imply fairness and reliability
- combination of green and white landscape implies thawing of the cold snow
