yeah from what I can tell Netflix definitely did some fucked up marketing but it also seems absurd to call the movie "child porn" which fucking Tulsi Gabbard is doing (lol)

I'm already aware of what the message is and don't really wanna watch tween girls gyrate for 100 minutes, I'm good

Haha Tulsi's reaction was so hilariously over the top, "I AM ACTUALLY DELETING MY NETFLIX ACCOUNT." Child sexual abuse: solved!

Honestly someone should probably ask Abigail Breslin to weigh in on this.

I know most of the film is not scenes like that, I'm just saying I'm already familiar with the overall premise and the point the director is making. It's just not a film I'm particularly interested in seeing to begin with and knowing I'm gonna have to sit through extremely uncomfortable scenes involving real tween girls being sexualized is not selling me any further on it.

a real horseshoe moment (society?)
Do you think anyone but the most pretentious aristocrats could have felt that way before we trapped music in vinyl? I doubt it.

watching cuties along with the social dilemma was a decent combo for a double feature

Just finished this. So, so bleak. Cast is great, though. Beautifully shot. I've not read the book, but the author narrates. I'd recommend watching.

Got another email from roku about another provider pulling their app. Got a feeling the big content providers are starting to revolt against roku's terms after HBO said they wouldn't concede.

cross post from british tv show thread:

NBC. Pulling the current app with no roku deal in place for the replacement where they are migrating all their content, Peacock.

Oh, gotcha. I already have Peacock on my LG TV, but that doesn't have the local NBC station on it, which might be a slight issue if they get rid of that app altogether because my girlfriend's show is on that.

I doubt it given the terrible hbo max subscriber numbers. Although peacock’s were even worse.

I feel like class action park romanticizes its villainous owner way too much. We shouldn’t be painting people like that positively, especially right now.

It was pretty annoying to have them repeatedly say they were not romanticizing the guy while doing it nonstop. Without gethard the documentary is kind of nothing.
